Sighs* Everyone thinks Okamiden is coming out in the U.S. Well... Not to burst everyones bubbles, but the game ISN'T coming out in the U.S. Not yet, anyway. It's coming out in 2010 in JAPAN. It says it in the GameStops GameInformer.
That's not really all that surprising. Simultaneous releases are a fairly new phenomenon. Usually games made in Japan take over a year to be ported over seas, sometimes it can even take half a decade. However just because Japan has a release date and the US doesn't, doesn't mean that it won't come out here. It's like Harvest Moon in a way. We never know when the next one is coming out over here after being released in Japan, but we know it'll come sooner or later. ;-)

Meaning I wouldn't buy it. I cant explain WHY. But there's just something about Okami that you can't duplicate into pup form. You just... Can't.
They're making a DS sequel, but I wouldn't call it Okami 2 just yet; since many of the original designers for the game left after Clover studios desolved. So only time will tell if it will have the right stuff to be considered a true successor. The whole Chibiterasu thing has me a bit doubtful though...
That said though I hope and PRAY it will be as good as the first. It's going to have some pretty large shoes to fill. =)

Lmao. Hell, I pretty much got all the crying out of the way just before the final round with Yami when Issun gives that big speech about prayer while hes passing out his paintings... Then everyone you've ever met and helped say some sort of inspiring line, then Ammy gets this huge burst of energy and starts kickin' ass again. No other game has ever evoked that kind of emotion out of me.
Yeah, my eyes watered a bit during the ending. I mean, I'm kind of an emotional guy, but still...that doesn't happen very often to me.
I think it was a combination of how uplifting and wonderfully done the ending was, the music, and the fact that it was finally over. I REALLY didn't want the game to end.

My sis and i were just randomly searching this on youtube and we're like ohhh whats this? We loved it ever since. We beat the game at our friend Peter's house and my sis was fighting Yami and hes like what the hell? The Best Game Ever!!! Sometimes i wish the plotline was harder though. I was traveling through the dark forest in Kamui ~forget what the name is~ and my sis walks in the room and she sees me running and jumping through the thorns. Just keep runnin' Just keep runnin'
Honestly, probably the best game of the PS2 era, and better than anything that's come out since. It's a shame this game isn't more popular. I loved every moment of it, they got everything perfect.
But if Atsushi Inaba could make an Okami 2 just as good as this one, then I'd love it if he did! I'm actually thirsting for new Okami-levels...I've played this one so many times that I know exactly what happens everywere, so it isn't that fun to replay it anymore...
I've played many great games, but Okami stands pridely above all! The ending is the most beautiful and epic one I've ever seen, and thanks to the music this game is always refreshing, it's so good that I actually play the soundtracks again and again sometimes. I'd love to see what happens after the ending, not necesarely from a game, but I'd love to see it!

The best and most beautiful game I have ever played ^_^. There is a speculation of a sequel but I actually don't want a sequel to this game. It was great the way it is, you know? If Hideki isn't involved in it, I won't play it either.
Yeah, and to others Okami can also mean 'Big god' since the kanji for 'big'大 is there as well. And the front of the case of the game is clearly 大神 so the game itself means Big God. The funny part is that its also about a wolf, which in turn is a god.
This is what I did, after 10 freakin times, lol: Took my cell phone, put it on camera mode, and recorded it. As long as you have the brush button pressed down, you can take as much time as you need to dot out the weak points.
I bought this game because it looked odd lol. Im so glad i did its the best game ive ever played (although i dont really play games) but still its just brilliant. I wish it was real :(

My sis and i were just randomly searching this on youtube and we're like ohhh whats this? We loved it ever since. We beat the game at our friend Peter's house and my sis was fighting Yami and hes like what the hell? The Best Game Ever!!! Sometimes i wish the plotline was harder though. I was traveling through the dark forest in Kamui ~forget what the name is~ and my sis walks in the room and she sees me running and jumping through the thorns. Just keep runnin' Just keep runnin'

Honestly, probably the best game of the PS2 era, and better than anything that's come out since. It's a shame this game isn't more popular. I loved every moment of it, they got everything perfect.

But if Atsushi Inaba could make an Okami 2 just as good as this one, then I'd love it if he did! I'm actually thirsting for new Okami-levels...I've played this one so many times that I know exactly what happens everywere, so it isn't that fun to replay it anymore...

I've played many great games, but Okami stands pridely above all! The ending is the most beautiful and epic one I've ever seen, and thanks to the music this game is always refreshing, it's so good that I actually play the soundtracks again and again sometimes. I'd love to see what happens after the ending, not necesarely from a game, but I'd love to see it!

The best and most beautiful game I have ever played ^_^. There is a speculation of a sequel but I actually don't want a sequel to this game. It was great the way it is, you know? If Hideki isn't involved in it, I won't play it either.

Okay I believe, Okami means 'great god' and Ookami means 'wolf'. It's supposed to be word play as Nekogirl223 stated.
(Wolf=Ookami=狼)
(Great God=Okami=大神)
If I make a stupid mistake I'm sorry, I'm not flunent in Japanese or anything. Learning though. :P

Yeah, and to others Okami can also mean 'Big god' since the kanji for 'big'大 is there as well. And the front of the case of the game is clearly 大神 so the game itself means Big God. The funny part is that its also about a wolf, which in turn is a god.

This is what I did, after 10 freakin times, lol: Took my cell phone, put it on camera mode, and recorded it. As long as you have the brush button pressed down, you can take as much time as you need to dot out the weak points.

I bought this game because it looked odd lol. Im so glad i did its the best game ive ever played (although i dont really play games) but still its just brilliant. I wish it was real :(

okami is one of the best games i have ever played... the game was cool and the celestial brush ability was even cooler! and this song at the end was perfect! it was a nice wrap up

ya know what really gets me? game with lack of promotion are sometimes very awesomesauce level, but no one buys it. examples are earthbound, elite beat agents, and of cource okami. if they had good promoting, they would beat the popular but crap games.
