Sounds interesting, but the degraded samples you're using aren't "8-bit", at least not in the way that you mean (NES style chiptune) because no 8-bit console ever had sampling capability.
Also, just FYI 8-bit is a really just a misnomer. True 8-bit PCM can actually sound pretty decent if one dithers it well and the song isn't too complex.
