Sorry to burst your bubble friend, but you executed the maneuver very sloppy, hands all over the place, the car does not look perfectly aligned. You specifically and erroneously told you trainee (1:03) to use the back window and not the mirrors, when in fact is just the opposite. This technique can be performed flawlessly using only one hand while the other stays on the shifter in preparation for the next move (dropping it in D). Watch your (unstable) posture and the hand in top of the wheel.
you're not suppose to change gears in an auto (gears in this sense park, neutral, drive, NOT 1/2/3/4) when you have ANYTHING above 1k revs. doing above 1k, going form neutral to drive like in the video, causes your half shaft to tear the spleens in the transmission. doing it to much can result in requiring a new transmission and new axles, among other things, like tire wear from being sideways.
your doing it wrong. your supposed to do a 1/4 spin on the steering the opposite way of the direction you want the nose to go, then crank the wheel the opposite way just like you showed here in the video. doing the 1/4 will help the car lose its balance so you can perform the maneuver in tighter places
@Engineer9736 "doing the 1/4 will help the car lose its balance so you can perform the maneuver in tighter places" and a Scandinavian flick is not a j-turn. its what i described but going forward... a technique used in rallies to initiate a drift
@moham7ad i didn't say a J-turn is the same as an scandanavian flick, i said it helps to do it. It's all about weight transfers. Steering 1/4 to the left transfers all the weight to the right, then you steer completely to the right which causes to slam all the weight to the left. This puts the traction of the wheels onto the limits. Once you remove your foot quickly from the trottle, the rear wheels will break hard enough on the engine to loose traction, and the rear will turn completely left.
I wouldn't do it on tarmac with my car! Sure nothing will happen but it puts a lot of stress on the front suspension and wishbone bushings. And it's not very healthful for the transmission too...
If you don't want to wreck anything, try it on a snowy or slippery place. It's huge fun on snow, believe me!
@4everkilla oh really?:)) well, fyi i tried it and it worked.. i mean i didnt flip the car.. i wanted to know for sure that it can be done without flipping the car, cause it wouldn t have been nice to come home with the car wrecked
Kinda sloppy. Way slow on the second one. Poor verbal instruction. Steering looked panicked and out of control. Unprofessional attitude. Looked like you were trying to impress the bird. I try to leave positive comments but this sucked. lol
@SupportDavidsfarm I dunno, he actually made it easier to pick up than some of the other videos! ahaha then again, i actually like the english accent soo...
you can shift it just fine without braking, but you have to shift to neutral the moment before you turn the wheel and then shift into drive at about 1/2-3/4 of the way through the turn. if you dont, you lose tons of speed and it can hurt the transmission. trust me, ive done this numerous times in automatic cars.
You only have to do that when coming out of Park I think. The manuals tell you to use the brake pedal but you don't *have* to in order to switch from reverse to manual - taxi drivers do it brakeless all the time.
Automatic works fine. Right as you crank the wheel one way or the other hit your gearshift into neutral and when your going forward hit it one more time into drive.
ya wanna put it in neutral before you turn in an automatic to put less wear on the tranny

@moham7ad that's called an Scandinavian flick, it's not a real necessary thing to do, it just helps a bit loosing traction.

Definitely not an Omega. It's either a Vauxhall Cavalier or a Calibra... For the type of driving being done here, more likely the Calibra.

It looks like a vauxhall omega and they can take a hell of alot of terrorising hence why the police still use them.
Dn2kproductions 2 years ago
It's not an Omega I can tell you that for sure, it's not got a Vauxhall steering wheel. Either a Skoda (unlikely) or an Alfa Romeo, I think.
SPTSuperSprinter156 2 years ago
How the hell do you do that without braking coz it is auto right? Can't be good for the car :/

no, technically u CAN switch it w/out braking, but...not too good for the transmission. however, once or twice shouldnt hurt it too much

guitaristwagner 3 years ago
Not unless you are in an SUV. Or, if you hit something. Check the road carefully for rocks etc. before starting.
cheesewaxed 3 years ago
No you dont use brakes at all. Just reverse to drive and punch it when you do it. Feel the drift of it and go that way.
Feel free to check mine out, I tried to hit 60 doin it but was just a little shy and rear suspension was completly broke off.
