yea I agree - I love it so far, EXCELLENT card - does run hot like you said, I just turn the fan up to 100% - have had no problems, I did leave the fan at 40% for GTA IV and after about an hour it overheated and the game crashed but when it's on 100% the game and the card is money - excellent buy, one of the best cards on the market I'd say

Thanks for replying. The higher power will meet the gtx 285 requirement, but will it have any nagetive impact on the overall performance of the computer? Like making the motherboard run harder and reducing its life.

negative? no! it will even run more faster! as long as your MoBo supports PCIe 2.0 x16.. and the cards also gets warm so make sure you have good airflow on your case.. and make sure you have good powersupply at least 600W or greater with two 6-pin power connector.

Thanks, also how better the gtx 285 is than 9800 gt. Right now i'm playing "Hawx" and call of duty 4 on a 20" monitor with 1689 x 1050 resolution with 9800 gt, and it works fine without any problems, and i never play more than an hour. Will the blue ray and dvd quality be more sharper on the gtx 285, is it worth replacing 9800 gt.

GTX 285 will totally PAWN your old 9800 GT, and you will get bettter FPS with 285. Yes the blue ray and dvd quality will improve but I would go for HD4890 if I watch full HD content.

yes it's normal, this cards in load heats up faster

than 280, as less copper and less heat pipes

than 280 and it haves higher clocks so it's

preety normal those temps, in some games

like crysis they might get to +85ºc easily i guess

those are the cons if this terrific card

Going into a silverstone TJO7 along with a feser Xchanger quad rad, and i7 920 CPU

The fans are scythe 2000rpm ultra kaze.

Swiftech MCP 655 pump, and tygon 3603 tubing.

Also ordered a Asus Rampage II extreme MBo some time ago, and the bay adapter for my hard drives... can't wait to begin the build.

Shrink wrapped some cables today

PSU is ThermalTake 1200w PSU, and samsung 7200rpm hard drive. UV cold cathodes. yes I saved for it folks and waited!

caretaker, if you're refering to COD 4 online then you have to set your max frame rates by hitting th ` key. /com_maxfps 250 (I think I got the code right, if not someone will correct me).

Also be sure you don't have Vsync on.

May be he did not get the gtx 295 because it wont run some games at full spec. because some

games want to see 1gb of ram to unlock the ultra high settings.and the 295 is seen as two cards.and the ram is not seen as 1.7gb as a whole it is seen as 895mb 895mb so not ultra high settings for you.:) if want sli just go for two 1gb cards not two put together.

plus the ram is 512bit on the 285 wider is better.
