the grinding sounds are probably a fan problem, and the reason why it stops is probably to do with when it tries to start the game the cpu crashes because its too hot or it could be that the disk drive is broken, i'd say buy a new one rather than get it repaired :)

Well thats what I thought when I first found the installation feature, when it asked for the disc I thought "Oh fuck that then".

Even though my GTA is installed (Modded) the disc is so bad that it wont get recognized, it makes a completely different sound, the laser just jams on the crack, eventually stopping the disc. Now the crack is worse so I gotta get a new one.
