Yet the world's fastest drag cars are all RWD. I'll admit that the Skyline is the fastest AWD car available once tuned & built. The fastest one running a 7.57, but trying to compare this to the fastest american drag cars there is no contest on who will win.
The fastest Skyline runs a 7.57, yet the fastest Camaro runs a 6.71. Also the fastest run in this car is a 7.46 on race gas and nitrous as of last week and will be featured in Super Chevy.
So a skyline won't beat this Camaro, but they're still great cars and will beat the shit out of a Honda or any other ricer car.

And I agree to an extent, yes American muscle claims the throne for fastest drag times,no contest, however, most of that is done with different engine than stock. The skylines and supras all have the same engine they started with.

I am an automotive engineer (5 years of school). Maybe I can shed some light on this subject. AWD is not better for drag racing, RWD is always going to be better on the strip (not necessarily the street). When a RW car accelerates, all the force is transfered through the body to the rear suspension, thus putting more force on the wheels that are under power, thus ultimately giving it more traction than an AWD car. In a skyline you won't. A Supra would be a better choice against this car, but there aren't many that can run in the 7-8sec range.
