Toms Hardware recently did a review of ATI vs Nvidia workstation cards. The excellent driver optimisation by Nvidia and its partners made it the clear winner.
@SasianStudios: Yes, your card will get around 5 FPS on this test. The V8700 has a Memory Bandwidth of 76.8 GB/sec and yours has a third of that 25.3GB/sec.
You should download the 3DMark free trial and try if for yourself and post your result here.
@mexfogel A posted result on 3DMark website shows your card (NVIDIA GeForce GT 220) running on a cpu i7 extreme edition got 7fps and 5fps running on lower setting "performance" as opposed to "high" settings like I did.
@Teblin: It was more important to match another system with a similar CPU and because there were so few those are the video cards I was able to compare with.
probably would of been best to compare against 3dmark vantage scores of 4870 crossfire rather than the 4870X2 the 4870 matchs the gpu core of the v8700 both (RV770XT gpu core) the 4870X2 uses a R700 gpu core. the amount and speed (gddr3 or gddr5) of the vram can also make a small difference.
The music = shit!!!!

could you crossfire this with a gaming gpu so you can do cgi and game?
jerkface37 1 year ago
@jerkface37 You can only do crossfire with two identical cards of the same model.

also the 4870 and the 4870X2 has a slightly higher memory clock vs the v8700 which may give the slighlty higher fps in vantage
