  • hey im from L.A... and this y i going to Graz- Austria, so... i wo/ if it be the same there? .. haah.. & lovet:D bye

  • @MrDomy2 its pretty much the same yeah! i live in graz, and its awesome every year ;)

  • des sand koae krampal mea do gibst geilare!!!!

  • hello from salzburg! we are the krampus-group which you see on this video! regarding to the comments to this video: of course we´re Not drunken! We had in the 30years of our group no accidents and no injuries of our guests! We just do a tradition, which exists hundrets of years and which should exist (in our opinion) also in the future. So we would happy if we may welcome your next salzburg stay again! :-)

  • by the way: you can also visit our site at facebook under the name "grödiger krampusse" - There you can find the dates for our runs... ;-)

  • despite i know krampuses (because i am living in salzburg) i have never realised what they are for. they hit everyone and everyone is afraid of them. there are also many accidents caused by drunken krampuses. i think this habit is really silly and unnecessary.

  • well the black one with the red mask was even nice to the girl... if they realise you are afraid, they mostly hit you really hard! i live in austria all my life and i am really afraid of them. if you stand in front of them they are so big and so scary.

  • "Merry Christmas everybody! From the freaking devil.

Remember, Good means you get presents from Good old St. Nick!

Bad means you get spanked by the devil.

    With birch twigs."

I dunno. I know that all cultures have something dark that's widely accepted and not really analyzed, so I cn't really say much. But seriously, doesn't Krampuss resemble what everybody pictures SATAN to look like!?

  • @CheeseMonkey119 Pretty much, but Satan was ripped off of "Pan the Forest Spirit" (or some title like that) who was a nice guy. So evil is a matter of perspective when it comes to the Krampus.

  • also der wa no ganz nett

    andere schlogn de volle her

  • I don't care what anyone says, I'm giving my future kids a taste of the ol krampus for christmas. I like holiday traditions and this isn't as bad as some whiny-can't-mind-their-own-business-parents would think it is.

  • @Krazykidchris

Keep it in check though, there's a whole tradition of parents dressing up as monsters and terrifying their kids. It definitely has some twisted effects on the development of the psyche, the kid needs to trust the parent totally, and they know it's you under there.

It's best not to mess with your kids minds too much. See the film "Joshua" for an example.

  • yeaah austria rocks :D

  • thats actually no krampus its a "percht" or plural "perchten" ...

  • when i was a child, krampus would actually beat the shit out of you if you were unlucky. its a fun custom with a wide range of local variations. personally i think its sad that most of todays masks look like taken from some horror movie. they used to be more vague and not necessarily like a devils face.

  • thats not a real ATTACK ! xD

  • ~ Oh, I love this! Krampus rocks!!!!

  • @victorianlulu perchten are better than krampus...they´re more scary

  • haha i love trying to read german! i only know some though

  • I wish we had that celebration in America.

  • @angelinaramon I would totally be into this tradition! I would actually pay good money for a costume and walk down the street the day before Christmas looking for bad little girls and boys!

  • @Chls122

    To rape???

  • @angelinaramon

Well, the USA is very manipulative. They try to keep their pussy children from the evil side of christmas. You know, in reality, Chistmas is an evil peagan holiday, that God probably hate you for celebrating. I mean look at Krampus. He comes right out of Germanic mythology. And Christmas itself is a celebration of the peagan Roman god of the Sun. It's all ANTI - CHRIST!

  • ja stimmt manchmal is wo abgsperrt ua woam

  • Why did the guy touch his arm? Wanted to get him away from the girls or what?o.O

  • isn't it obvious? He thought the actor was being racist because he chose to go after the black girl with her white friend. So sad how ppl can't even have fun because we aren't supposed to offend each other. :(

  • the town sign reads "St. Leonhard" wich is in the Pitztal. Which, again, is in Tirol, Austria.

  • the town sign reads "St. Leonhard" which is in the Pitztal. which again is in tirol, austria. matter settled.

  • It's Salzburg, you can also hear a guy saying "Mom, i didnt know you where here in Austri"

  • i didn'T know that you have krampusse in america.. cool but look at our better krampusse at austria!! "nikramo| Krampus in Lienz Osttirol" by irie7even

  • this is in austria! But americans are filming it

  • and from my childhood memories i can tell you it gets a LOT more violent than this. its basically another stupid bible tradition but reminds me of home and has a charming touch to it. plus the more traditional krampus outfits are totally banging!

  • it's got nothing to do with christianity, this hail from pagan times. Thought you would know that if you're a local

  • a church dude with his army of lovers beating up small children after making them pray...w-h-a-t-e-v-e-r

  • I guess you would call it syncretization then. S:t nicholas is a roman saint after all, the companions are however not

  • not in my hood he's not. nikolaus day is the day after krampus day (5th of dec)

Krampus and leader are on the loose on the 5th.

and he carries around his GEBETSBUCH, a collection of prayers

not saying its entirely church based but it certainly does show links to christianity. at least they were down with the whole idea of punishing the misbehaving ones and taking them to hell.

maybe you should get off wikipedia for once and see it yourself

  • i can think of a few boys&girls i'd like krampus 2 visit.what a great guy.

  • Haha, awesome. One of those things was in the Christmas episode of The Venture Bros.

  • hauptsoch...

  • Well I think Krampus is more specific to Austria. But yeah, he comes the day before Nicholaus and hits the bad boys and girls. Nicholaus comes the next day (Dec. 6th) and brings gifts. That's real general, there is more background info, but I think that is more or less right.

  • @futhark1 Yeah you basicly got it right except he doesn't beat you he abducts you and hurls you into the pits of hell-.-

  • Krampus.. is that german ? i think it has something to do with santa?

  • The Krampus is an Austrian tradition - Saint Nicholas brings the "Krampus" up from hell, they beat the sins mainly out of the kids and take all those sins back down to hell! (I accidently spamed your comment, sorry)

  • no that is austia

  • no it is in tirol... austria... watch my video from st johann
