  • Callas is the only true opera diva here.

  • Maria callas and sissel GOOD but the others??? sara brightman??? Jackie evancho???? Horrible!!! decadent

  • Sissel (1) is the top pure crystal clear voice and for me is more natural than Brightman (2). Callas (3) had a great voice but not so clear compared with Sissel. Evancho (4) is a great singer for is age and can be a top voice in more 5 years with good teacher.

  • Maria Calla's voice is not that great .There is no purity or tone in it. She is very overated. Sissel's tone is better and Jackie's tone is cristalline and pure. She lacks the technique of her older couterparts because she is so young, but she will easily acquire them with time. The most important factor with any instrument including the voice is the tone it produces. The Strdivarious violin is highly regarded because of it's tone. The vocal tone is inherited and Jackie is blessed in this way.

  • Maria is incomparable!!! She is singing so easy!

  • WONDERFUL

  • Such A SHame to compare this to Callas !

  • Many don't know that SISSEL is the VOICE OF THE TITANIC. She sang the wordless arias throughout the soundtrack.......

She was also supposed to sing "MY HEART GOES ON" by James Horner, but after her management bungled the deal, it was presented to SONY and SONY decided that they wanted a SONY artist o sing it. IT WAS GIVEN TO CELINE DION.

  • a girl can't be compared fairly to seasoned singers. this could be done again when she is an adult.

  • They are all good in their own way but don't try to compare any of them to Maria Callas. She's the best female opera singer ever. She's on the level of Pavarotti.

  • @sportster16301 Interesting is: is that many don't believe Pavarotti is the best.

Many think Domingo or Bjorling or Caruso or others.

NO ONE can reasonably claim anyone to be the best.

Personally, I feel more emotion and from Brightman and Sissel in this song.

Also, Carmen Monarcha sang this song with Andre Rieu and it's absolutely beautiful and touching.

Jackie's rendition brings tears.........In time she may become one of the ALL TIME GREATS.

  • @katzparov A singer may be technically better than another singer and lack the ability to bring emotion into the song and vice versa.

One may be the biggest seller without being the best talent.

One may not be the biggest seller but be considered the best.

    It's all subjective.

Basically, if YOUR EAR LIKES it. It's GOOD for you no matter how much someone else tries to prove otherwise.

For me Jackie is not the best yet.

Mirusia Louwerse and Sissel are absolutely amazing...Give Jackie some time.

  • @katzparov I meant to say that I feel Brightman and Sissel and Monarcha bring more emotion to this song than Maria Callas.

Jackie? Well, Jackie is in a different category right now.....Her voice is first maturing. My God, she just turned 11 in April.

She already has such a warmth to her voice that more established singers do not have.

Her wavering notes will note doubt become more precise.....She's still only a CHILD.

  • Personally, I don't mind that Jackie's mouth warbles.

Also, no doubt she can't hit some of those high notes......YET !!

And at this tender age of 11..........She probably should not even try until her voice is ready for it.

I seriously doubt that Gheorghiu or any of the others mentioned here could hit those notes at 10 years of age.

  • jackie all the way. being jackie is not an opra singer she sounds much better to me. I would rather listen & watch Jackie every time

  • For those who like less vibrato, Sissel wins hands-down, especially with her more natural style. For an operatic version, Angela Gheorghiu is probably the best at this aria. Other opera singers aren't likely to make blatant mistakes either, so people will prefer one tonality over another as personal taste. Jackie couldn't hit various notes here, but for a kid, is wonderful. Let us hope she doesn't strain her vocal chords in her youth and ruin her potential. She is adorable, though.

  • And what do you say from Montserrat Caballe??????? Where is she???

  • how can you even put any of these so called opera singers right next to maria callas?

  • Poor little kid. If Jackie continues to sing these operatic arias, she won't have a decent voice left in a few years. Poor thing.

  • All beautiful singers but Sissel is a woman among girls here.

  • I Love them all!!! jackie is young and will be coached like the rest of the legends..

  • @Grandmagrumpy, you do realize this little girl is only 10 ? she has plenty of years to progress she is just a kid, she has an amazing voice for only being 10 so of course you will see flaws my gosh give her a break. when she is an adult she would blow all these other singers away. How can you flaw a 10 year old?

  • @msginny18 Yes, Jackie is only 10. And that's why she should not be expected to sound like the older, more mature singers.

Give her a chance to grow up. until then, I'll listen to the ones that are already grown up.

  • love sissel!!

  • All are great but Jackie started just two years ago, what did these others sound like when they were just starting (or at just 10 yrs old). PLUS Jackie's voice sounds so much more natural and she does it with much less effort. Personally she sounds better even with her so called flaws she is much easier o listen to.

Give her a couple of year and she will blow all these others away. I bet she makes 10 times what all these others did combined.

  • Jackie's got talent but is still developing her technique.

For me Sissel takes some beating in everything she sings.

Check it out for yourself, there is a lot of Sissel's beautiful voice on YouTube.

  • @g0bxu SISSEL IS INCREDIBLE !!! TOO.

    .

  • maria or sissel

  • I used to sit in the living room listening to my Aunt Beverly Wolff (mezzo soprano) practice for hours. As she went on the sing with Leonard Bernstein and opera around the world my spine would tingle listening to her. She trained for years, but, and that's a big but, when Jackie sang I had tears in my eyes that Beverly never caused. Jackie has a certain angelic quality in her voice. The last I saw Beverly in Lakeland, we sat and played some of her records for my granddaughter, wife & me.

  • Sissel, hands down.

  • Thank you for showing us these comparions side by side. This is great!

  • They're all so great. However, Jackie is the best amongst them.

  • All I know is Sissel's voice captures my emotions so much during this song! For my heart it is Sissel who captures the true essence behind these words. Sissel could have easily, in my opinion been opera singer star... but how lucky we all are that she sings such a wondrous variety of styles of music and song? Simply she amazes me with her knowledge, and the various languages also. Five stars to Sissel!!!!!

  • @Godvilje I agree 100%. Isn't Jackie's version transposed to a lower key? It's not really comparing the same song then.

Jackie blew me away the first time I heard her sing, but the more I see, the more flaws I find that need to be fixed. I only hope she trains to correct these (jaw wobbling, breath control -- see shoulders rise, etc) before she makes them a bad habit and ruins her future.

There have been young stars that performed as children (e.g. Bjorling) and developed to become icons.

  • @grandmagrumpy i've been thinking the same thing this whole time!!! i was waiting for someone else to say it.

  • @grandmagrumpy My Aunt Beverly Wolff (mezzo soprano) could make my spine tingle when listening to her practice for hours in my Grandmothers living room. Jackie made tears come to my eyes. And Bev trained for years in Atlanta and the Philly Conservatory of Music. She sang with Leanard Bernstein and sang in opera all over the world. Jackie has something angelic in her voice that as much as I loved Bev she didn't quite bring out the same way. Go figure. Jackie is so natural.

  • @grandmagrumpy REMEMBER SHES ONLY 10!!!!!!!!! AMAZING

  • For such a youngster she is very good, but the maturity of the true feeling is lost. Because she is too young to understand the true feeling behind the words of this song. She is good but does not yet feel, does not yet comprehend the manning behind the words. I will always pick Sissel over any one else, for she truly feels this song!

  • @Godvilje You crack me up... You say jackie doesnt yet understand her emotions and Sissels sings likea statue without one ounce of emotions... At least Jackie has the most wonderful emotions I have ever seen and really? How can you bring emotions in a song if you dont truly feel them.. You can see how those emotions moves her when her eyes are getting misty as she sings... She is a lot smarter then you think !!

  • @stktrader11 / In an interview when asked if you know what you are singing about......Jackie said NO......

but I know little bit about the song.

She then went on to say that the MUSIC (MELODY) tells her how to FEEL during a song. SHE FEELS THE MUSIC.

She sounds like a TRUE MUSICAL GENIUS in the MAKING !!!!

  • Yeah, there's another comparative done in here somewhere, though it lacks Sissel's rendition, and I'll raise two things: (1) Interpreting tonality in classical/opera music isn't exactly the same as interpreting pop/R&B. (2) Jackie's youth could possibly be a negative factor with regards to her current timbre and quality of her voice. As Jackie grows through puberty, her voice will very likely deepen a little, and if her voice coach (yes, she has one) doesn't do a good job, she'll lose it.

  • Callas: shrill

Brightman: straining, fortunate to have married Andrew Lloyd Webber

Sissel: beautiful, one in a million

Evancho: effortless, amazing gift to the world, will be unappreciated by most

  • @lunameatball right, because "phantom of the opera" was only written for sarah brightman. oh, and she was the first to sing "pie jesu" and she's a coloratura, but who cares, right? something you see everyday!
