  • 0:44 This makes me funny in school!

  • that'll teach her 2 diss melbourne. inbred country hick

  • sssssssPPOONNTANEOUSSS COMBUSTION!

  • Car crashes can happen anywhere, city street or country road, and with equal devastation.

  • This is the TAC commercial called "Fireball" that I couldn't find! I'm gonna post this link up elsewhere, I know other people have been looking for "fireball" with no success - nobody's posted it under its correct name yet.

  • @ProtoChaud9 Yeah. I've been looking for this video for some time, but I couldn't figure out the name of the title. I cried when I first watched it.

  • @ProtoChaud9 im suprised the offical tac victoria channel doesnt even have it

  • This is awesome but weird

  • so this is saying if your car rolls it automatically blows up??

  • Comment removed

  • hmmmm cars dont do that unless the gas been leaking and there is a spark but there wasnt

  • I can only relate to well to this add. As a CFA Firey from 1999 - 2004 prior to joining Police I have seen far to much tragedy in this way. Too many people killed and seriously injured due to lack of driving experience and negligence. Left Police start of Dec 09 and returned back to CFA where i havent being unfortunate enough to attend any fatal MVA's in the last month. But its only a matter of time.

  • How is this possible?

My guess is an lpg tank.

  • It is impossible that an lpg tank leaks from a small crash like that, lpg tanks are a lot safer then a normal gasoline tank.

  • Hmmm. This seems a bit cartoonish. I mean after rolling over, you should be OK, but this seems like one of those things where a person drops a firecracker and it turns into a nuclear explosion or when Wil-e-coyote stops running just before he falls off a cliff and savours the satisfaction of not falling off the cliff before the protruding rock he's standing on breaks off.

  • They should have ads like this on all the time instead of only certain times. Everyone should be exposed to this kind of ad and end this 'oh, that won't happen to me' mentality. They should arrange it so that no-one escapes ads like this and everyone takes heed of its message.

  • When did this ad first air on Australian television?

  • The hell? Were they carrying some incendiary bomb or what?

  • LOL totally agree, that was a bit rediculous but shocking

  • I'm sure that it is not Dr. Chase from 'House' but it looks like him. This ad displays the sort of raw, edgy power that now seems to be lacking in the Aussie ads. These days, the Danish seem to have overtaken the Aussies in regards to effectiveness

  • 00:16... Isn't that "dr. Chase" from the TV-series "House MD"?

  • 'Tis. He's an Australian actor.

  • Yeah, you're right. Thanks! Thought he looked familiar... :)

  • Holy shit.

  • That made my hair stand on end. At first I was thinking - why would you need a speed limit, the roads are empty? But I think that's what lulls you into a false sense of security.

Kudos for whoever made these ads. They should run similar ones throughout the world.

  • No matter what the road, a speed limit is necessary to save lives, particularly as they can be bumpy. Country roads are often empty, but there is a chance that you could still encounter another car on the road, and with some of the roads narrow, one second of carelessness can mean the difference between life and death.

  • As a victorian, as i recall these ads were researched from actual and most prominent scenarios in incidence of accidents, they freaked me out and they need to be aired again, cause they are worse than a movie in their realism

  • I saw this on a 'Tarrant On T.V.' episode that aired three times. The first time, I also couldn't sleep after seeing it and almost cried and the last time I saw it, an actual crash did happen, and I live in a country area.

  • Thats why enyone dosent buy opels!

  • Treehugger you are a dipshit... razor meant opel (with correct spelling) as in the auto manufacturer. The car in this ad is a cross between an opel rekord and opel senator as sold in australia with a holden badge glued on it. BTW, It's a VH not VK, note the amber indicators, steel bumpers and lack of a c-pillar window

  • i think by spelling treehugger mean enyone -.-

  • Excuse me while I take my eyes off the damn road. See me next week when I take both hands off the wheel and use them to make a sandwich.

  • tip #1 dont drive with mates in the car

  • Damn...

  • 1:25 Thats some old lovin right there and it looks like a VK commie

  • Now lets look at this TV advert again. Who would phone and tell a parent that their son or daughter was killed in a car accident like the one we just saw. First they have to ID the body and remember this is the next morning. Can you imagine what would be left of that car.Think about this. (The amount of petrol that came out of the front of the car is too much unless the tank was beside the engine). Apart from this there would not be much left of body's after that fireball.

  • a little comment about the end, 7 out of 10 people who die on country roads live in the country, well ummnn DUH! just as city dwellers spend most of their time in the city they are more likely to die there and country people spend most of their time in the country there for are more likely to die there. aswell as when they also tell us the majority of people have accidents within 20miles of home, so... again DUH! I thought it was obvious and didn't need stating

  • Oh Pls- Im a paramedic and that is the most unrealistic thing ive ever seen.

  • How the hell did it explode instantly?!?!

  • burst fuel tank, 1 spark can set it off when metal collides...newer cars are less prone but it still happens

  • whaaaaaaa whaaaaaaaa whaaaaaaaa

  • LMAO

  • this cannot happen. cars cannot explode like they do in the movies

  • well thats a 1980s car, without a reinforced fuel tank, and the tank probably isnt centrally located, much like old american cars the tank could have easilly been cracked, and between the close up in the car to the shot outside there could have been a gap of one or two minutes enough time for sufficient fuel to leak out and by fluke get ignited by a spark from anywhere in the car or someone trying to open the damaged doors

  • Looks like a late '70s/early '80s Holden Commodore (similar to Vauxhall Carlton or Open Rekord in the UK). The fuel tank is probably located between the rear axle and rear bumper. I think though the fireball effect is more to get the shock message across rather then being accurate as most people expect cars to go up like they do in the movies.

  • The fireball effect is made all the more shocking by the fact that you don't normally see it in road safety ads.

  • Cannot happen?????? google todd wilkes at eastern creek.I was there at the time and it can happen!!!!!!

  • All i can say is... PWNED!!!!!!

  • dude you need to lay of the games and lay on a chick

  • Says the dude who replys to my comment. Im sure u get all the ladies man /sarcasm.

  • omg..

  • i am so glad they changed their marketing strategy to now show mothers being hit by cars as they take their sons to school

  • ok.............................................

  • this was directed by Michael Bay I think judging by the explosion.

No yuppies were harmed during the filming of this movie.

  • Cars seldom burst into flames after a crash.

  • true, and sometimes they do. especially if they are holdens.

  • The lesson is-don't drive a shitty old holden or you will die

  • scarey

  • oh bless, shes a little pervert, although i dont have a hair brush, just really short hair :-)

  • LMAO 7 out of 10 people who live in the country die on country roads? BS!!!! the majority of them still die of old age!

  • er... it doesn't actually say that.

    Read it again.

  • The ad is saying that car crashes are the most common cause of death among country people. And as a country person whose house is situated near a narrow stretch of country road with a notorious blind corner, I would have to agree with that belief.

  • Wow that was so cool, especially when the car exploded. The fact that never happens makes it even better!! I really want to keep my eyes on the road now!!

    Sarcasm over.

  • did he have geico lol cause if he didnt then his poor cars never going to be rebuilt sucks that he died look ed like the girl was dead b4 the car blew up and did this really hapen?

  • It is a commercial produced by the Transport Accident Commission to promote awareness and road safety in Victoria, Australia.

  • Yes! that was sweet.

  • yaaaaaaa about that...

  • is that real?

  • of course not!

  • DAAAAARK

  • boy racers take note.you are not invincible....

  • Can't believe that even with these add running every day that our crash rate is so high, it makes you think know one has a wanting for life... I just get pissed everytime I hear about that!

  • Oh shit..

unfortunately shock advertising only works for a bit before people stop noticing it, but this is pretty hard hitting stuff anyway

  • I laughed when the car burst into flames. I know it wasn't funny, but still..

  • i did the same thing HA HA HA HA

  • It just doesn't seem like it would happen.

  • Need more of these, like the sleep-driving and the Christmas ones.

  • Agreed, so many of the ads haven't been shown in years, i'm sure most of the younger generations can't remember them, and should see them again.

  • we need these to come back on they fully work

  • I remember seeing that on tv. I love how us aussies just go for it and don't worry about being controversial with our ads.

  • These ads are real hard hitting, The Aussies know how to do a good job on them

  • ...what the eff?
