The Dopenhagen thing is not uncommon. There is a breed of people who are very insecure and try to denigrate anything heartfelt. They tell themselves they could do this if they wanted or write a great novel or be a great painter - but, unlike Curtis and co, they never do it for a string of tenuous reasons and so the bitterness deepens. Worst of all Dopenhagen wasn't even able to take the piss in a funny way so it came across as actually jealous of the people it was mocking.
