I actually bought the bass used and the Noll stuff was already in it. I don't have this bass anymore, but it was definitely one of the active versions of the Noll preamp. I think it was the 3-band EQ, with a sweepable midrange frequency. Very versatile setup!
I dunno. That bass just had a really growly tone like that! Lakland JO5, strung with Lakland strings I think. I sold it a while ago, but I will have another Lakland Jazz someday. I'm sure of it!
It's by a band called "K's Choice". Not real well known, but they have an album that I think is called "Ten" that this song is on. It's a compilation album of their top 10 songs.
Is that a passive skyline? or what.. It's so hard to see.
You know as nice as your tone is, I bet you just have it going straight into your computer, flat. ??? I have a 3TS USJO5, and it's my favorite bass man.... Please keep the playalongs coming. I can always use the help ;)
It is a Skyline, but it was modded with a Noll preamp. Still with the Lindy Fralin pickups. I do record going straight to the computer (through a nice DI and recording soundcard), but I think I had a little bass boost on the onboard preamp in this clip. J-basses don't get much better than those US Laklands too!

Where did you get that Lakland and for how much? I am seriously looking into getting one for myself!

I got it from the Talkbass classifieds. Bought and sold it there over a year ago. They usually go for around $1000

K B's choice?
Ugh, I fracking hate her.

K B? I dunno. The band is called "K's Choice". Sarah Bettens on vocals. There's a lot of her stuff that I don't like as much, but I love this song.

Oh, hahaha...
I thought maybe Kay Biccum asked you to play it... a bit stupid of me.
bitshift1024 4 years ago
Ha! That would be awkward...

Understandably...

Love your B-string :)

It is because it is a 35" scale. The B string is so much clearer because of the greater tention

Hey, how did you get such a nice growl?

They were fairly cheap actually, from taiwan. About $500 each. Pretty cool basses for the money though.
