I love technical guitar playing and fast and eclectic drumming, its a unique style of songwriting that can be really successful, but it just gets boring. Its funny, I think most of the metal bands in the late eighties saw this starting to happen and either got jobs or went in a different direction. It seems like 99% of metal fans in the US these days are either brutal-techno metal or pop post-metal fans or somewhere in between these two. I gotta say it man: metal is officially dead in the US

everything is just so fluid on all instruments. Its impressive to see someone who has so much dexterity as a drummer and as a guitar player that can use a pick and play fingerstyle bass.
