This is the roots of music called mountain music or folk..Bill Monroe was a bluegrass singer and was fast paced music . Bill got the credit for being the father of bluegrass but until Earl Scrugs came alone blue grass was pretty rough in sound...E3arl actually wqas the father of the bluegrass sound that people feel in love with.

@bluegrassplayer101 Pretty easily...I suggest you check out the compilation called "The Roots of Rap." It contains a ton of examples as to how old blues and roots music was worked into and helped develop the hip hop or rap idiom. Interesting stuff...and yes, I am a fan of some hip hop and rap for the record.

Carter and Ralph Stanley harmonies are delightfully haunting...and that mournful fiddling adds to this absolute fabulous performance...I agree with the previous comment, about only 2600 visitors. What a shame.
