Pode ser que na capoeira dita contemporânea que a galera coloca um monte de coisa de outras lutas exista, alias, oq não existe na capoeira contemporânea neh?
Agora não venha dizer que na capoeira existe submissão. Se toca.
You say that by the fact that mestres use red cord? Cause not in all groups they do and being a mestre is not just about your capoeira skills... it goes beyond that.
You're gonna be better than Eddy In just a month, If you really wanna learn Capoeira.
If You Can't find any Capoeira training centre then try to learn it from "youtube" the website which you're using right now. Type "Capoeira tutorial" or "How to do Capoeira" in the search bar.
Capoeira is the art of fight smiling, born in Brazilian slavery, from Afro traditions. For some, capoeira is a religion, for others, it is a sport, art, hobby, entertainment, etc. Never war! But, no matter what it is for someone, you have to respect the traditions. It would be good if you could ask your questions to of the Mestres I mentioned.
Capoeira was built from suffering. It tool a long time to be legalized. It represents the art and fight from Brazilian people. It was built as a way of surviving, not to make war! Peace and respect to the art!
Ask a Mestre what he thinks about i. Ask Mestre Joao Grande, Acordeon, Boca Rica, Suassuna, Mao Branca, Gato, Bigodinho, Bocao, Ramos, Tony Vargas, etc! Ask and you see you are distroying capoeira.
Ask a Mestre what he/she thinks about this and let me know!
And that leg-lock is a movement that does not exist in capoeira. It is trash too. Again, ask a GOOD Mestre about it. Resumindo, esse video eh uma titica.
@cameracapoeira I also highly doubt that the slaves considered themselves "Brazilian" at the time of the invention of this sport/art. No one is arguing that capoeira is highly identified with brazilian culture but for you to dismiss that it was never born in Africa is a bit high handed. The sport could simply have been transported. We dont know for sure. Angolans appear to practice Capoeira. Idk but ur statement is a little irritating considering the racial attitudes then and now in Brazil.
"Capoeira is an Afro-Brazilian blend of martial art, game, and culture created by enslaved Africans in Brazil during the 16th Century." --- Quote taken directly from Wikipedia's main article on Capoeira..
Capoeira is purely Brazilian. It was never born in Africa. It was created here in Brazil by african slaves. Try travelling to Angola and asking if they know Capoeira.
Yes, Capoeira was created in Brazil (as far as we know right now), but it's roots lie in african and indian dances and games. Brazil was the melting pot of which Capoeira finally emerged.
@Alessandrobrs There is a video on youtube called Angola: birthplace of capoeira that suggests otherwise. Despite the geological origin of its creation or the beginning of its practice, Capoeira has its origin in African culture but was practiced in Brazil by black slaves. That phrase "purely Brazilian"? so what if the Portuguese took blacks to Portugal and they still invented capoeira? The country harboring the slaves is irrelevant. They would have developed this beautiful art anywhere.
What a great video! Muito Axe'! I know the history and respect it, but I am more interested in where I am taking the art...forward. This is the WORLD'S artform. We've gotta keep it based in Afro-Brazilian heritage but spread it like wildfire! God bless you all!
Capoeira is purely Brazilian. Capoeira is a word from Tupi language (native brazilian indians), which means vegetation that grows after putting a forest down. It was never born in Africa. It was created here in Brazil by african slaves. Try travelling to Angola and asking if they know Capoeira.
I agree. However, I like to term Capoeira as Afro-Brazilian because people who don't know Brazilian history miss out on the fact that it was AFRICAN slaves IN Brazil that formed Capoeira into what we know today. To deny the AFrican roots is ridiculous.
The only thing natively Brazilian about the form of Capoeira is the the word Capoeira itself.. The actual form is indeed African in origin because there are similar styles with striking resemblance throughout the Caribbean and in West Africa.. There was absolutely zero Native Indian influence in the creation of Capoeira.. look up Ag'ya and you will find the true roots of Capoeira.
Also, agree with you here. I have not explicitly denied the African roots of Capoeira, nor do I wish to deny them when I term it an Afro-Brazilian art form. I just think it helps to differentiate something as distinct as capoeira as found as is in Brazil. Capoeira, as is, can't be found in Africa despite the fact of the similar styles found there. It's like Bruce Lee's Jeet Kun Do, it has Chinese roots but it was formed here in America. I would term it a Chinese American martial art.
I would also add that the debate between African and Brazilian camps is what I think a misunderstanding between both. The African camp see it being called a Brazilian form as a denial of the African roots. The Brazilian camp see's it being called African as a denial of the Brazilian locality of it. I really just wish both camps would both see that they are both right, but that they can't deny the other.
Hello all. I would just like to reiterate a lot of what has already been said. Capoeira IS brazilian, but it's best described as Afro-Brazilian. The roots are most definitely African. Of course if you go to Africa now and ask for capoeira, you won't find it (unless a brazillian group is there teaching) but if you ask for the predecessors (Un'golo etc.) you WILL find it. As a person mentioned above, look up ag'ya, or l'adya for another offshoot of the same roots, the resemblances are remarkable.
So in other words, yes it is Brazilian and the modern Capoeira (be it Capoeira Regional, Angola or any comtemporary evolution) is exactly that....a brazilian phenomenom, and brazilian evolution of purely african roots. Viva Africa, viva brazil, viva meu Deus, viva meu mestre que me ensinou...a capoeira camaradinha!! Axe irmaos!
the name "capoeira" may have come from brazil, but there were also different dance like arts throughout africa that could have helped mold what we know as capoeira. and the berimbau is an african instrument. but as it has been stated by many MESTRES and HISTORIANS, NOBODY knows the TRUE origins of the art, we can only assume.
Cool...I am brazilian! And Capoeira are popular in Germany? Because he in USA I know a lot of people who practice that sport, and I know that in Holland people rely enjoy it!
tupiniquin's style.. what? i guess the Africans no credit, huh? Capoeira is becoming like Jazz, a stolen art form whereby the true creator get no credit for it.. oh btw, the tupiniquin people had absolutely no part in the creation of Capoeira.. well maybe the name, that's it!
Rey..the Capoeira it is a fight, developed by the africans slaves in Brazil, they weren't aloud to practice any kind of fight, and that they develop the capoeira. And "Tupiniquins" are the way that us brazilians call ourselves when we talk with Europeans, Americans...like a "gringo", or "Yanke"..we are the "tupiniquins"...got it?
Hey men! Let me tell you something about it: the capoeira as martial art cames from an afro-brasilian moviment against slavery. The slaves dissimulates to be dancing africans rhythms, however they were trainning. It`s an afro-brasilian art!
Great video, I relly like the music and the way the editing was put together. I would have used a few more long shots just to add more of a sense of the acrobatics. Beautiful product though, Capoeira is a beautiful art.
So hot! My girlfriends & I love to watch him before heading off to capoeira class. Nothing better than a hot shirtless guy with moves like that for inspiration
This video is great, but the music does not do justice to Capoeira. The Capoeira music is so essential to the moves.
