  • Do you know who this is?? This guy will become the greatest guitarist of modern times! THIS IS THE EDGE

  • best concert ever !!!!!

    U2 at their very best

  • wish i was present that night! Amazing where U2 have gone.

  • I was there , the best concert I ever attended .

  • Bono rockin' the super mullet. Outstanding!

  • THIS IS THE EDGE!!!!!!!!!

  • Somebody likes their job!

  • This is just superb, early U2 was fantastic, i know they might have developed more, and became more refined and tight or whatever but this is good passionate honest rock, this is what they do best.

  • Just the Fukin Best Band Ever

  • This is when U2 rocked. Nuff said.

  • The fashion is dated, but the music is as fresh as ever.

  • @ChrisandAmie Long Live The 80s!!!!

  • quienes seran los 5 inadaptados que no les gusta este tema ja ja ja

  • @automaniamasmotores

los 5 inadaptados son de fans de Bieber, Black Eyed Peas,...

  • I migliori di sempre !

  • Fantástico! Espetacular!

A melhor do mundo desde sempre.

  • best band in world u2....we miss you boys....this is when u2 became the best band ever....miss this times but u2 always best...love u2 ever...portugal

  • is it just me, or does it seem like Bono yelled..no screamed at the crowed in the early 80's?? idk..maybe its just me!

  • What an freak haircut Bono.

But you're still look beautiful !!!

  • Bono makes me crack up every time I watch this at the begginning. haha

  • this time, where is it? the times have change

  • The best band ever

  • Red Rocks, On that Sunday night ,June 5th 1983 everything was perfect, the rain, the cold , the fog... for this made U2 a legend !

  • when U2 were U2 !!!!!!!

  • i wish there where timemachines i flew back

    Posistion out of control

  • lol .. they almost blew it in the first 10 seconds timing wise .. awsome recovery boys!

  • Larry with that Yamaha Studio Series kit ,with the Paiste Rude cymbals. I loved that kit.

He changed it all up for The Unforgettable Fire tour the next year.Actually it was about 3 years later. I was so into them back then. Saw them 6 times in the 80's. BOSTON.

  • lol bono should have pointed to edges hair and said " DONT GET USED TO IT...TAKE A PICTURE"

  • i love the old plumbicon tube cams fuk yhea edge rulez

  • OMG!!!!

I seriously didn't know that Edge has had that guitar for so long!!!!

    Is it the same one?

  • @TheBeautifulStream that's the edge's first guitar...ever! from the former years of the band.

  • @TheBeautifulStream Yes its the same guitar. Go rent IT MIGHT GET LOUD on DVD. The guitar has been with the band since the very beginning.

  • My bought videotape of this show starts with "Surrender" they edited this out!

  • @dunskie . Full concert now available on DVD

  • @brenU2 Seen it? Does it have any Extras on it?

    Thanks.

  • @dunskie It has directors commentary as an extra and 5 songs not included on the original VHS video. Available on its own or as a deluxe set with the remastered CD under a blood red sky, this CD has 8 tracks only 2 of them from red rocks, gloria and party girl, the rest from other shows,,,, DVD has 17 Tracks

  • @brenU2 Thanks very much for all the great info. PEACE

  • Respond to this video...The CD has 8 tunes and only those 2 from Red Rocks? Interesting. The original "Under A Blood Red Sky" had only 1 tune from another venue on it. Party Girl was from The Orpheum in Boston. So, Party Girl on the new one is from Red rocks? Gloria too. (same as the original) and all the rest are from somewhere else? Interesting.

  • larry mullen jr is one hell of a drummer

  • THIS IS THE EDGE!

  • i would have killed to have been to this!!!

  • ooohhhhhhhhhhhh

  • what a guitar tone

  • How far we've / they've come! Man I'm Old! This really takes me back, but real music will never die!

  • @sandmanmac you sound as old as i am this makes me wish i was a teen again fantastic song

  • The Edge de cabelo

  • Love the way Edge drops an entire beat at the expense of Adam & Larry (at the start). A rare mistake from him :)

  • @PJBonoVox I've noticed it too ^^

He just plays the riff twice without a single pause.

Anyway, probably they were nervous (and they weren't as experienced as they became later on :) ) Still an awesome version!

  • Absolutely fantastic post!...........Why have they never released the full gig on dvd????...........As brilliant now as they were then!

  • @nealtracy U2 released the dvd version 2 years ago. It featured enhanced video and sound quality and previously unreleased tracks such as this one; even Two Hearts Beat As One and Electric Co were included, but these ones were edited in order to cut Chubby Checker's Let's Twist Again snippet from T.H.B.A.O and Soundheim's Send In The Clowns snippet from Electric Co. The only track missing is I Fall Down due to a camera malfunctioning. Personally i don't like the editing on the two songs...

  • This song for whatever reason shouldve been included on "Under a Blood Red Sky" Live! It never got the accolades it deserved! Great f-ing tune and even better sounding in concert...Larry Mullen Jr kicks ass.

  • Amazing concert indeed! This is obviously a different version of what was on the Under a Blood Red Sky Album. The album had songs taken from several shows from this very tour. Including a few from this very concert. The energy is incredible on this, however the band's playing ability was not as tight as it is today. This version had some timing errors especially at the start of the song. Still an amazing performance hands down and Bono's voice was young and more powerful then.

  • Un pezzo lineare, essenziale, potente, emozionante!!

  • 81 manchester apollo i was there, still in there!

  • @wigan3r respec!!!!!

  • For clarity, U2's live record, "Under a Blood Red Sky", and its companion video, 'Live at Red Rocks: Under A Blood Red Sky', are not the same recordings, as the record is recordings from Europe, Boston, MA, and Denver, CO. LARR the movie is entirely from Denver. CO, USA, 1983's 'War' Tour. Sadly, one song is missing from the Denver, CO, video; "Like A Song". Too bad, as I'd heard a bootleg copy of it from an audio cassette years ago. It is one of my favorite U2 songs but hard to play live.

  • Ahhh. That's why Bono's vocals in Sunday Bloody Sunday for example sounds slightly different to the video from Red Rocks

  • @amerocker Like A Song has only been played once. 1983-02-26 Dundee - Scotland

  • This is a very different version from what comes in the LP UNDER.... but I hope you could tell me if this is other date in RED ROCKS...VIVA U2!!!

  • WOOOOOOOOW!!!!!!

  • I wish "Under A Blood Red Sky" the album would have had the entire setlist from the Red Rocks concert only!!!! I was upset when I got under a bloodred sky as a teen only to learn that "Sunday Bloody Sunday" was not from Red Rocks, lol--I was pissed...

  • Not sure how I found it, but a couple of years ago I did find the actual full album of this concert. It is freakin awesome!

Super rare... I paid like 7 bucks for it at Amoeba.

  • @u2control its been available as a bootleg for years its amazing and doesnt have the edits thats on the official dvd all thats missing is a day without me and i threw a brick as it wasnt broadcast at the time.

    its awesome.

  • LAdy Bella I would do the same. Right beside you

  • that makes 3 of us ;)

  • Colorado at it's BEST Berry Fey is why U2 loves Colorado and Always plays here !!!!

  • I would sell my left orn on ebay to go back in time and see this show. I am not kidding.

  • The idea of this song is that the two biggest events in our lives, birth and death are out of our control

  • pure rock van de jongens, i like it

  • No better venue than Red Rocks.

  • @FLAVOLS You can say that again!!!

  • Saw Bono and the boys last night (9/20/09) in Foxborough MA (the 360 tour). Last saw them in '87 and wow what a difference. Slick lighting, over the top audio and a $200 ticket. Bono wasn't a poster boy for political posturing 22 years ago...their stuff was fresh and amazing. They should tone it down a bit or god forbid they end up like the Stones.

The Edge was still unbelievable, and Bono sounded great...only sad thing was the passage of time.

  • it's a pity that they are never out of control like this anymore on stage

  • Your a IDIOT

  • Well that may be case, but whats your excuse? By the way, when using a vowel, like in 'idiot' the 'a' becomes 'an idiot'..............Who's the 'idiot'?

  • It is probable better when he is not singing... Either, the best singer in the band is Edge, but god, I love Bono

  • Probably the best rock and roll show that has ever happened. The weather, the location and the band. Better time and better music.

  • Totally agree. This just isnt U2s best performance. This ranks as one of the best concerts period of any band.

I have the original cassette tape with "send in the clowns"

  • I remember hearing the concert rebroadcast on NPR. Made a tape of it, listened religiously

  • @vixvega one of the very few time that you actually see adam sing.

  • @vixvega I could listen to anything from that Red Rocks '83 concert over and over again :)

  • he's made a lot more money and helped more people than you have mate, despite being a prat

  • funny thing about red rocks, everything else ages and it remains the same.......

  • wow !!! look at all of Bono's hair !!!

  • This band have educated the world :)

  • this band is one of those bands that if you take away one band memeber the band will suck . This members of this band can not every be replaced there all 4 great at what they do edge and bono mullen clayton are just great togeather .

  • Is this entire concert on DVD ?

  • yes

  • You're talking the entire show, this song included, not just the comercial version that they used to show on MTV ?

  • erm ya i think so. they played 18 tracks and thats whats on the dvd. they also showed bono talking about what he thought of the weather and shit. it's a great movie..

  • Thanks for the info bro ! I'm gonna see if I can get it on Amazon.

  • no only about 8 songs called "under a blood red sky " was on vhs many years ago

this conncert is dubed over as the sound is not good the sound comes from germany !!

  • Yeah I know, I have that. Somebody posted that the entire show was on CD or DVD.

  • one of their best live perormance ever. forget any shit they have made since 1998 to nowadays.

  • back in the day of mullets

  • Larry Mullen Jr's the shit and never gets the cred he deserves...

  • here we go amazing

  • thanks this was not on the tape that i bought ,,

  • Not on original vhs tape its on the deluxe remastered issue under blood red sky DVD not cd

  • greatest mullet ever

  • Bono seemed to be plugged in! This show simply move me. Denver 83'

Sorry for my bad english :D

  • oh god , THE hair :x

  • I like the current events quiz at 2:05

  • adam was so cute back then.

  • I Love Bono, And Adam sing backup's All The Time.....And If ANYONE Knows An address's For His Fan Letter Or His Email Or Phone Or Anything Plz Tell ME About IT ASAP!!!!

  • Adam NEVER sings backup goofball. Their phone number is klondik 5-5555

  • Woah!!!!! Adam sang back up vocals!

  • Wow the boys had so much energy, loved this show, one of the best from U2

  • my dad had the chance to produce this tape but turned u2 down, he said they wouldn't make it, darn

  • shows what he knew!

  • yes yes agreed, but now he really enjoys there music, i guess he simply didn't listen to it deep enough

  • Liar.

  • Hey chill man, its not like im bragging here, i'd much rather have had him produce the cd.

  • did your dad jump off a cliff once they hit it big with October?

  • haha fortunatley not

  • at 3:27 is the best part:D

  • Ah, the days whenn they WERE a rock band and Bono didn't bore the world talking shite about problems that will never be solved

  • That's possible, but if I were a musician with the power to influence people to help make the world a better place I would do it without reservation. In that regard Bono has done well, and I admire it.

  • were you the girl who stood at the side during the lead in 11 o clock tik tok

    i always loved her....

  • surely rock history must put this down as one of the best gigs of all time?????

pure perfection and so jealous of yebocs

  • I don't expect anyone to believe me, but I was there. Closest we got was about 15 feet or so to the stage. I had turned 16 a couple weeks before. The next night they gave a concert in Boulder Colorado. We were much further from stage that night, but Bono ran through crowd with white flag, and we all ran over and grabbed him as he passed by.

  • We truly were the greatest generation....until we bought mini-vans and Celine Dion.

  • u2 = 10x coldplay fact

  • i like bonos funny dance after saying "this iis the edge"

  • considering they are all almost 50yrs old and been doing in consistintly since 79 i would say they are still damn good. i have seen them there last 2 tours and they still kick ass over any live band

  • I wish they still sounded this good--I dont know if they just like to play slower now or they really are getting older--but anyways this concert fucking kicks ass!

  • this take you to another place that woul be so incredibly awesome to have been there

  • Why couldn't I have been at this? Could it be I was only 16 and had parents that didn't do anything for me at all but feed me and make sure I had a roof over my head and that was all they did.

  • this is probably thier most underrated song u2 rocks

  • Yeah, as well as One Tree hill and Like a Song

  • hard to believe this was their first ever single released, its still so modern and kicks the sh...e out of most music today , irish legends

  • This is the best concert of all time, the weather, the band and the edge. A bettter time and the greatest band.

  • legendary

  • This Is FINALLY out on DVD this week - with the deluxe version you get this plus Under a Blood Sky both are Remastered and Red ROcks has extra songs on it and it is awesome....very clean picture and sound

  • I remember reading an interview from Bono where he said 'we want to write songs you sing on the bus', weel I guess that came true enuff. But I still prefer it when they wrote songs that made you want to go wreak the bus and change the world.

    awesome post....

  • I love this song !

bad video quality but good sound !

  • it all dont really matter, if the sound quality is good

  • Larry Mullen Jr

    What a great drummer.

  • Great to watch this again, you can see at the start how nervous they look, this was really the gig thet took them from average irish rock kids to star status, watch this then watch New Years Day form the same gig.

  • Do you know who this is??

    This is the Edge!! yeahh...

    And Bono same rocks!!

    And Larry, and Adam!!

    U2 Rock yeah!!!

  • look in his head !

    wtf ?

    aah is his hair..

  • I think he looks pretty cool xD

And I love his connection with publicity...

  • lol

  • lmao omg look at his hair!

  • The whole concert including these extra tunes not on the VHS will be released on DVD next month finally.

    :)

  • very good song, mainly if it is live.

  • I wish I was alive when they had the concert.... I live 20 minutes from red rocks. It's nice having a world famous stage close by. and I also wish I was alive when pink floyd played there and it snowed that day (I believe it was June 10th). my dad went though. *jealous* >=(

  • Yummm. I remember this when I was in grade school....and U2 made me feel punk rock (!!!!)- I 'd awake in the middle of the night with my punk jewelry still on with their tape (yes, tape) on 'continuos' rewind...felt so validated.

    love- lizzi

  • omg, is adam singing at 2:41??!!!!

  • IT IS!!

    m

  • I remember reading an interview from Bono where he said 'we want to write songs you sing on the bus', weel I guess that came true enuff. But I still prefer it when they wrote songs that made you want to go wreak the bus and change the world.

  • pure quality.........nowt else to say

  • i can't think of many that ways bono's hair could be worse.

  • In 'U2 by U2' they also have a dig at Bono's hair. Apparently it looked like a skink had died on his head at one point.

  • Yeah but those were the 80s. They weren't that much based on the looks like the days we live in now ( and it's getting worse ). The sound they created was just unique back then. That's what it 's about. He could be bald and I'd still think he rocks.

  • yeah, i remember reading that. It reminds me not so much of the skunk but you know those old 'coonskin hats that Disney had davey crockett wear? that sort of thing. the band went out of time in the first part but it was still cool. Saw them on their last tour in Sydney. flew in from singapore to watch them, cried like a baby- waited 18 years to watch them since the Joshua Tree.

  • Well, he was bald for a period this year...and he might very well be for the next tour. Be careful what you wish for. :D

  • Back then it didn't matter how you looked as long as your sound was met with approval - Today, 4 funny-looking kids from Dublin wouldn't stand a chance.

  • The DVD I have has 1. Surrender 2.seconds 3.suday bloody sunday 4.october/new years day 5.I threw a brick/a day without me 6. Gloria 7.party girl 8. 11 o clock tick tock 9. I will follow 10. 40. In order

  • Bono's little jump at 1:52-ish... very adorable. the guy had a lot of spunk in the 80's. Really. It's too bad I've yet to meet a guy like that... If I ever meet a guy like Bono in the 80's I will be the happiest girl in the world.

  • rocking

    long live the mullet

    not

  • Love it! Love it! Love it!

  • awesome i love red rocks! im going there for foo fighters in july. but dont get me wrong i freakin' love U2

  • I'm goin too

  • pre politics, pre everything but what matters. The music.. Thank you for posting!!!!!

  • Hardly... Remember Bono waving the white flag?

U2 have always been political. Doesn't mean a damn thing, their music's always been kick-ass.

  • I really don't think you can talk. Have you been writing music since the Seventies with the same people and have influenced every other major band from the eighties onwards from the chilli peppers to Audio slave...I really don't think so!!!!!

  • u tosser! as long as we are interested it aint gonna be bullshit for them, quote bono,u2 4 eva

  • I believe this to be amongst U2's best early performances

  • best live band on the world u2 4ever

  • now this is some proper U2!!!!

  • i have this song on my mp3 it one of faves XD
