Some of us Brits, especially the upper classes and officers in the military, can be snobby, sure. But we were far from incompetent in ww2. We held of an invasion from a militarily superior force. We made up over 50% of the Normandy landings and we played a pivotal role in Africa. If anything, I would say that the modern day British army is much more incompetent, or rather the MOD and parliament is in its funding of the army.
Will hopefully be an officer in the 9th/12th Royal Lancers in a couple of years and hopefully be commanding one of these and the rest of a troop :) keep up the good work lads you have my 100% respect
@PressyTCN Completely different vehicles, this has a aluminium hull and a crew of 3 i think, warrior has crew of 3 + 7 passengers, they have the same 30mm cannon though the warrior is getting a massive make over including a fancy new turret with 40mm auto cannon with air burst capability.
@harrygorrod23 -Interesting and are you in the 9/12th at the moment may I ask? I have family in and he has done 15yrs so if you are in he will have met you already. Hope we will all meet up at some point when they get back from this tour, his 2nd plus Iraq & Bosnia. By the way they have the newer Jackal in use out there, the old Reccy tanks are in wraps-training. He also says the grub out there is a bit naff....Lol Be safe!!
I would like to point out that Scimitar vehicles are strictly recon only vehicle, hence why they recieve such a high degree of camo. Our frontline vehicles just get painted tan, and our secondary vehicles such as the "Snatch" Land Rover often remain in Olive Drab. I am sure US vehicles are no worse camouflaged than they need to be.
@dynmicpara Oh, don't get me wrong, I agree with you wholeheartedly there, I was simply stating that whilst its very well and good to acknowledge the high degree to which this particular British vehicle is camouflaged, there are many aspects of the British armed forces which remain as woefully under-camoflaged as their American counterparts (such as our helicopters for example). I was simply trying to say that I'm sure American units are as well camouflaged as many British units are :)
@lknkprkninflamesbest NARCISSISM. The USMIL thinks its WW2 and they can flood places with sloppy numbers; this ain't WW2 and we don't have the whole nation drafted for numbers, we need QUALITY and that comes from HUMILITY to admit to problems and seek IMPROVEMENTS.
i would rather drive around in that then a humv it can take rpg and allmost any roadside bomb us armor is lighter and stronger than anything in the world
Dude i was there in Iraq before Mraps. I have shrapnel in my neck from being in a M-1114 during an explosion. I felt a lot safer walking then riding in a bullet magnet HMMWV
We're narcissistic and lazy....while beating our chest that light foot infantry is god, on other side of mouth riding around in rubber-tired Humvee/Stryker/MRAP trucks getting blown up at 60, eh 45 mph boasting about how "ghost-like" we are--yeah as in departed spirits after being killed.
are you serious? the south africans and your colony Rhodesia started that. And wit mines wheels and v shaped hulls rule the day because the wheels are easily replaceable after the v shapped hull channels the blast

SCIMITAR ISNT A APC ITS A LIGHT TANK
scouse180 1 year ago
@scouse180 A tracked APC is an infantry-carrying tank. The variant of the Scorpion family that carries infantry is the Spartan.

@takedownroddy You are surely wrong. EVERYONE needs to be well-camouflaged; not just recce units.

it makes it less likely to set off mines and is more mobile and easier to fix

@eoghan93 We get what we pay for. Tracks are the answer for war ground mobility not wheels.

@bxnyfordham V-hulled tracks that can go-cross country at will and be better armored and armed by a ratio of 28% are even better.
