I like the case quite a bit, but less enamored with the platform chosen by HP. Do you happen to know the OEM of the case? Seems like a micro or mini-ITX MB should fit.
@flakier Sorry I don't know who the OEM of the case is. I've not seem another branding using this particular case. As for the mobo again I can't help, when I put the drives in I didn't make a note of what the mobo was.
@flakier AFAIK, the motherboard is a bit smaller than standard mini-DTX (I've read that on a review online, though not sure where), so I don't know if anything else would work. It's probably a custom-ordered case for a custom-size motherboard, which probably means no after-market hardware support. Do remember that there is no backplate (just custom cutouts), and even the 12cm fan has a custom pinout.
@flakier The motherboard is an mini-DTX fitted inside an "Ultra Micro Tower" case.
As it looks it is perhaps a motherboard manufactured by FOXCONN with an AMD socket and then bios flashed and branded HP.
Well, HP as reseller and as FOXCONN to manufacture their products they tend not to fallow any OEM case measurements to be fitted with any other universal motherboards.
If you want to fit some small motherboard you might need to modify the case by your own.
@Zorack123456789 Streaming music and movies to the Xbox from the server, the Xbox saw the server straight away. One thing you need to be aware of is the speed of your network, you need to have a Gigabit network otherwise video doesn't stream so well.
Got it up and running, it was pretty easy TBH and I'm very pleased with the performance, I've had no issues, hardly notice it even when it's backing up. Which to me means it's working.
As for WHS2011 software, I got it from a company called Novatech, the price has gone back up to £49 though. Scan.co.uk have it for £38.

@hikinguphigh It is kind of, once windows Home Server 2011 is installed it acts like an advanced NAS drive. You can have all your media stored on it, so every computer in the network can access them, the software will also back up all the computers, meaning should your PC fry, you can easily get back up and running without lose of data. Added bonus is the xbox will work flawlessly with it.
top bay is NOT 3.5" as mentioned..... it's 5.25" for DVD or cradle for 4 (four) 2.5"drives

@Ath3na32 Yep if you're running the older version. The 2011 version that took that feature out for some strange reason.

Have you managed to get it up and running mate? How is it performing? I'm looking to buy one of these for my house.
BTW where did you get your copy of windows 2011 server?
Can you do a video of how you set everything up on your network within the OS?
