  • whats the name of this song

  • no all shovelnose do this quiet frequently usually once every week or two i have had over 5 of them

  • The sorubim lima is trashing mucus off because of your bad quality of water and/or because you change the fish from another quality of water to this new too quickly. Combination of fishes in this tanq is very inapropiate; also it size.

  • this is skin he change the skin my shovelnose do it too

  • i have a 100 gal um is that good for one of these or do these need to be in groups?

  • i have a lima cat as well. he has his slime coat about once a month. most other flat nose catfish dont usaly shed like the lima

  • lets say 5 inches

  • @Radsharkboy97 They grow slower than a tiger shovel. Probably grow to a foot in a year from "5

  • how long does it take for the fish to get that big i have a 125 gallon aqurium

  • @Radsharkboy97 well it depends how big they are when u get them

  • oh i always see this stuff in my tank. i have two lima. now i know what it is haha

  • fish amazone vs fish asia !!! Fu king fishman !!!!

  • You think I could put a tiger shovel nose with a Lima??

  • were did you get your catfish? please tell.

  • Very nice! Does this occur to all kinds of catfish?

  • All catfish seem to have the same a slime coating, but I don't think they all shed, but not sure

  • Nice vid. I've seen mine shed a bunch of times but never recorded it. Good job!

  • Mine ate hikari catfish pellets and chopped krill or grocery shrimp. Even ate hikari herbivore pellets too. Just sold it to a freind a few months ago. Very cool fish. Still doing great today.

  • hey nice fish...i just got a lima shovelnose catfish today, its about 5-6 inchs, and i was wondering wut i should feed it

  • A Sorubim lima is NOT a Tiger shovel nose catfish.

There is a huge diference! About 3 foot difference!

BTW 18" is a nice size for a Lima. Well done!

  • thats one sick stressed out lima a real tiger shovel nose would never stress (truth)

  • Shedding of the slime coat can leave your Lima at great risk from parasites and diseases. Without the protection it provides, bacterial infections are a real risk.

  • He doesn't shed often. Completely normal in nature. Its how they prevent sickness and a way to make them more susceptible at the same time.

  • well i guess thats a positive way of looking at it anyways cheers! to your shovelnoses health

  • Ha. I got a tiger in the same tank...their best buds. Always laying on eachother. But your right, the tiger doesn't shed, very laid back.

  • i'll see if i can upload a vid of mine hes about 10-11' inches besides i think i uploaded enough music vids anyways peace!

  • is that as big as they get cause i heard (just going of what i heard!) tiger ones get like 36 inched but those are like idk 9 inches thats why im asking if urs is fully grown

  • Not sure if mines fully grown but he stopped growing after a year. Supposed to get about 18"s but I doubt he will get that big.

  • haha im glad i saw this and read your description! i freaked when mine was doin this xD nice lima! i cant wait til mine gets big!

  • Mine grew pretty fast the first year I got him...then stopped growing. He's sitting at about 18" and is very lazy. Eats about 3 times a week. He spends most of his day laying on my tiger shovel which is also very lazy.

  • whats the minimum tank size (gallons) for a lima shovelnose?

  • I would say a 100+gallon tank minimum....they get up to 18"..mine is about 10" now.

  • should i get one of these instead of a jardini arowana or fire eel?

  • why not both? If you can afford to pickup a jardini, im sure you can spend 30 on a lima.

  • Mine does it all the time too, its cool, its normal.

    He looks good!

  • thanks, he's probably grown an inch since then. Him and my pictus get into it sometimes. Great fish.
