Korea has probably one of the best ground combat forces... There are mountains everywhere, harsh terrain to fight in, and they are very well trained against North Korean guereilla warfares. Got some good tanks too.

Sure, the South Korean military may be run by US to a degree, but that will change in 2015, the year when S. Korea would accomplish a lot of things. Besides, Japan doesn't even have an army, and the US has leverage over almost every capitalist country out there. But just wait, my friend, soon, South Korea will rise to its fullest potential.
Age of Empires game is a good example how to rise a civilization, if you put all your manpower in maximize army your economy will collapse by the weight of the army, too hard to maintain it. South Korea grows harmonically, 5% of GDP in education, 3% health, 10% public sector wages, 4% army, 8% foreign reserves etc. Then if SK needs to increase that 4% to a 10% or 40% in warfare then will liberate a power that even can exceed the average power of Russia, China and even USA by a short time.

Age of Empires game is a good example how to rise a civilization, if you put all your manpower in maximize army your economy will collapse by the weight of the army, too hard to maintain it. South Korea grows harmonically, 5% of GDP in education, 3% health, 10% public sector wages, 4% army, 8% foreign reserves etc. Then if SK needs to increase that 4% to a 10% or 40% in warfare then will liberate a power that even can exceed the average power of Russia, China and even USA by a short time.

Honestly, the ROK needs to prepare itself, not only for NK, but also for China, like Japan has. After all, China is NK's main ally, and it's sustainer.
And, Japan's voiced their feelings toward China, why can't the ROK? The ROK militarily can hold its own better than Japan could. Other the ROK, no other countries' armies in the region are as technologically advanced, or with such numbers. SK has more than 1500 3rd generation tanks with an overall force of about 3.5 million.

South Korea isn't worried about the North's army size and weapons but those chemical and biological weapons the north has. They do not want 5,000 metric tons of chem and bio weapons sent to Seoul. The thousands of artillery cannons on the DMZ aimed at Seoul also isn't a good thing for South Korea. Not to mention North Korea has around ten nukes and will use them for a last resort. With the help of the Americans, the South would win but the causulties would be enormous.

North Korea is weak because invest all their resourses in defence, so civilians are starving because their mad leader doesn't understand that from civilias comes the money, the technology and resourses for soldiers. South Korea is stronger and can defeat the North Korea army just with the 5 to 10% of their max capacity, that's why they have only 680,000 soldiers cause North is amount not quality with 1,500,000 soldiers is overdimensioned. In the early years of South Korea's recovery, the United States punped billions upon billions of dollars in providing and upgrading technology for South Korea. This includes but is not limited to military technology and civilian technologies (TV's, Radios, Cars, etc). Military wise though, South Korea still takes US technology.

M4s?! LOL youre talking way back! Today, its all about the M110, the Magpul, SCAR, etc. Also, military vehicles best in the world? XD I'm pretty sure you havent seen our top of the line birds in the air force and battle ships in the navy... not to mention M1A2s, not M1A1s, and other ground offense/defense vehicle systems. And lets not forget who has the most nuclear warheads in the world (with the exception of soviet union)

K21s are not better than US Stryker in terms of cost, mechanical features, and computer targeting technology, along with other useful features... too bad charac. count wont let me list them all. also, our F22s and F14s can wipe out your entire inventory of MBTs, IFVs, etc. And if Korea ever becomes intl threat or anything similar, US can make the entire peninsula vanish with a couple nuclear warheads. and M110s, SCARs, etc. will soon be in standard service

I think at this point, you know nothing about the military.. F-14s? They've been out of service for like what..? 5 years? and K21 is an Infantry Fighting Vehicle and Stryker usually serves as Armored Personel Carrier and its main armamen is M2 0.50 Cal machinegun, compared to K21's 30mm. and SCArs, M110s, etc will soon be in standard service you said? That 'Soon' being 2030's?? haaha.. and Nuclear warheads.. weapons for countries who are too much of a pussy to fight a full-scale conventional war

and South Korea is one of the FEW (few being five) countries who can withstand full scare US invasion for more than a week, and that tells something about South Korea which is not even a 1/3 of California. oh shoot why did i write F14s? I meant to say F-16 Falcons (sorry about confusion) and yes I agree that ROK has great armed forces and land infantry vehicles... but you cant beat our air force, the greatest air force in the world. Our AF can bomb and missile the shit out of not just your cities but your manufacturing plants as well and ur decent IFVs, MBTs, etc. also, more than a week? lol dats true but i know a couple countries who can stand for more than a few months and maybe even win against

US (France, Britain, maybe Germany) One thing I have to say about SK military is u guys got a navy worthy of respect throughout the world... but then again, England had most feared navy during American Revolution and look who won ;)

they've got some really old american fighters
probably the only modern fighters they got are like f15's,f-16s and some other korean ones but their seriousily nothing compared to america.
but south korea's ground forces are pretty wequipped and trained
