I've heard of similar SWAT raids where home owners got killed over the forfeit seizure law. They raided a home in Beverly Hills because a kid had 6 little pot plants on the back of the lot. They did a tax search to find how much it was worth then raided the house, & killed the man & woman living in it so that they could seize the house and sell it. The owner thought he was being robbed and got out his gun to defend his home & was killed by the SWAT team. Was in readers digest 8 or 9 yrs ago.

Police should always announce themselves before entering a house, no matter what they are doing. A law abiding citizen will automatically assume someone who kicks in their door is a robber because they have no reaosn to expect the police. The police could easily make the mistake of not announcing themselves because they automatically assume the house they enter has criminals in it and to them suprise is an advantage, not the potential catastrophe surprise actually is.

First of all lets get something straight. They did not hit the wrong house. They (the investigators not the SWAT team) had a warrent for that address from an informent. The police did not shoot first. They shot back in response. What would you do if you were briefed and told that you were serving a warrent on a house and that there were guns in that house. You then make entry yelling "Police search warrant" and then someone starts shooting at you? They did their job. They returned fire.
