OK I just watched this trailer, I'm a Catholic, and it looks like there's going to be a lot of bullshit in this miniseries. Can anyone who has seen it honestly tell me that it is worth seeing?
I saw. Excellent film. I often thank God, that He converted the Saint Augustine. The saint Augustine made us aware, that we should not perceive phenomena for pleasant-unpleasant, but as good-bad. City of God and City of earth. Only what aches me, it is it that Marcin Luther which shared the Christianity and hurt Mother of God was from the Augustinian order. Most probably it is for the Saint Augustine now unpleasantly...
@busysignal2006 Roman in the sense that it (modern day Algeria) was a Roman province however ethincally he would've been North African, most probaby Bereber, which is defientley not "Italian"/European if that's what you mean by "Roman".
Saw the series in march this year on public tv. Overall a quality biography on augustine. My only gripe was that the Vandals were Christians too (of the arian dogma), yet nothing about that is mentioned in the dialog between Augustine and Gaiseric. So the uninitiated viewers would assume that the Vandals were pagans.
@petr79 They might,as well, have been. Arian is not Christian.Period. Arian is as much Christian as the JW's are. Not everyone who claims Christianity is Christian! Arius denied the divinity and Goodhood of Christ, this "dogma" goes against all Christian teachings including the important one of the the Logos taken on flesh and becoming Man in order for man to be ressurected with Him and partake of the divine nature. Arians, Nestorians, Apollaniarian, Sabellian, Ebonites, etc, etc, are not Christian
Not only St Augustine had a mistress that he passionately loved . She is also the mother of his unique beloved son Adeodat. We know nothing about this mistress because St Augustine made a choice not to talk in his confessions about her. Anyway don't pay attention to the ignorant dude to whom you replied. His comment says all about him..
RafflessingaporeIf you were a little bit learned hun, you would have known that my beloved St Augustine is from Algerian roots. He was born in Tagaste and was a brilliant Archbishop of Hippo, Bone while Algeria was a french colony and Annaba nowadays..I love St Augustine.I'm looking in every man something from St Augustine.the confessions of St Augustine is my bedside book for a while now.I'm the best expert of his work. The Algerians are muslims, they are not fond of him. You're a joke Diana
OMG !!! there's finally a great movie about one of the greatest man. I was thinking on my bed ? why there's no movie about him ? he has a story ? actually he has a lot of stories to tell !!!! HE'S AWESOME !!!!! ~~ I'm so proud of being catholic !!!.
@Tibly You're sooo right, st Augustine is the only catholic intellectual who makes me feel this huge pride to be Catholic..He has been christened despite him in Milan by st Ambrose the bishop of milan at the age of 36..His questionning about God, his doubts are the best lessons to understand our faith..He is more than Awesome...
@cedroxan mmm as a roman catholic i think its detestebale that you should appear here spouting how learned you are when just recently you have been running around paris burning cars and looting..this forum is for Christians
@rafflessingapore1 What is your reason for thinking that? So far as I know, Augustine only had one known sexual relationship, and very little is known about his mistress.

Aurelius Augustinus: he preached grace but finally advocated the state persecution of heretics, forgetting his own manichaean past.
This is total hypocrisy
He is dead, He is nothing to me

Is this going to be shipped in the US? Will it have English subtitles? I'm very interested in seeing this film.
