The way he picks the high E gives his sweeping a really cool, articulate sound. Say what you will about his music (I'd be lying if I said I was a fan), but Rusty is a technical mastermind!
@1337mikev LOL ok...Im Rusty Cooley and today I'll demonstrate how you too can play Legato...*4 hour solo*....And there ya go, just practice those few licks for a week or so.

if u know where to find the right vids, buckethead is far more impressive than most if not everybody......especially live, check out buckethead in wheatlands ny, welcome to buckeheadland, far exceeds
I sure wish he had more recordings out there. I think he's just a little more advanced than Becker, Yngwie, and Loomis. Well.....maybe not Loomis. Or Petrucci for that matter. But pretty damn close!
I think that technically is way better than becker, yngwie, loomis and petrucci, and maybe he knows all the guitar theory stuff(like a jazz player)but i like only 2 or 3 of his pieces, instead i like yngwie, dream theather and nevermore, but he has choosen to have this style of playing and its good for him
rusty cooley is the jason becker of the 2000's. anyone who has played 5-6 string arpeggio runs at this speed learned from becker of paganini's compositions.
well hes just combining the various major arpeggio inversions. Becker did this a lot too, no doubt where rusty got it from. Also loomis is a huge fan of rusty's and has his instructional series but he could have learned this anywhere.
yeah loomis is big time, its really aparent in his solos and sweeping ideas (not to take anything away from his creativity, I love all of the Becker arpeggio ideas and use them a ton myself haha). Another big user of these ideas is Santiago Dobles of Aghora
@AlucardMorgurth I'm basing this information on stuff that jeff loomis has said himself faggot. Here's a fucking quote from jeff "Upon receiving Rusty's instructional series, I saw my technique improve drastically. He is a killer player with tons of talent and songwriting expertise. Highly recommended."
- JEFF LOOMIS / NEVERMORE, 2004" so please, shut the fuck up

Rusty looks so fucking twitchy when he plays it fast! look at his right hand, it like fully teleports up and down the neck.
kilyatwice 2 years ago 6
haha. he takes 30 seconds to explain it then 3 and a half to play it. crazy...
