  • i can't believe i ever stopped this workout. two years ago (i was 13) i did this workouts, i could touch an 8'5" rim. i stopped doing it after that season and now im 6 inches taller and i can barely touch 9 feet. trust me this works.

  • There are alot of cool plyometric exercises to do to increase your vertical jump. Some of these I wouldn't agree that they help, but there are some real good ones. I do a lot of unique stuff to increase and maintain myself and my clients vertical jumps.

  • @woopla Your thighs will increase in size, however if you jump rope a lot, do sprints or cardio, you will also lose the fat, so that way your thighs will look better and perform better :)

  • Plyometrics can be really bad for your knees make sure when your done your work out you ice your knees. Most videos of this nature forget to mention the steps you need to take after your workout. No point in setting yourself back with an injury!

  • takeing care of your knees is pretty easy... after your workouts make sure you elivate and ice your knees.. 15min on 15 off.. if ur feeling discomfort then take it easy for a couple days. I realise ur workin out often to increase ur verticle but a few days off wont kill you. its better to take a few days off then to severly injure your knee and lose all that u worked hard for

  • dawg... seriosly tho , it doesnt matter what leg exercises your doing ,if your getting stronger in the lower body areas then youll be able to jump , ask for the knee injury , dawg .. just do leg curls or any other exercises that strengthen the hamstrings and you wont get injuryed i promise . injurys for the happen because becasue there hamstrings are too week in comparison to there qauds

  • Nope, means you did good. Just stretch before and after workout, and if that's not enough, Epsom Salt is the best natural muscle-relaxer you can find in this world.

  • depends on how old you are... if your under 18 then I really suggest you hold off on serious pylometrics. the 555 is more body weight but if its giving you problems I would stop.

  • Get your hand a full 8 inches over and you beable to dunk 1 handed.

  • @kingdmb12 you will need about 5 more inches to make it a real dunk but you can let go before putting your hand on the rim at about 3 inches

  • Heavy squats make you stronger I agree, but stronger doesn't always mean you will be more explosive. Plyometrics are better, in my opinion. Plus, if you don't have it in you genetically, there is a limit to how much you can increase your verticle. If heavy squatting works for you cool, keep doing them. If they don't work, add plyo's and see what happens.

  • what he is doing is right, he useing explosive movements while working out, that how to improve explosive movement, seme type of why rugby and rowers( ithink rowers not too sure) would work out, they'd do stuff like throwing he barbell into the air wen doing bench presses, it all works on the explosive movement and that what this guy is doing will defernetly improve his jumping height. :) no offence lol

  • I agree, plyo's are great. I was commenting on someone else's remarks that squats are the best exercise. It's been my experience that plyometric workouts will improve your verticle over just doing squats. I think the video is good and there are a ton of other plyometric type workouts to do.

  • I disagree. Power and plyometrics are about how quickly you can use your muscles. If you have more muscle, then the potential increase is greater. Generally, an athlete needs to at least squat 1.5x his body weight to have a good vertical (30 inch) and 2x his body weight to have an elite vertical(40 inch). Usain Bolts for example, can squat over 450 lb.

  • Yeah, squats do help, but I think plyo's teach you how to be explosive. You have to be explosive when jumping or sprinting. Bolt squats 450, but I garauntee he is doing some type of plyo workout as well. I just think for best results, you have to incorporate the two. I could play with bolts max all day, probably rep out about 20 easily, but could rarely dunk and definitely couldn't run a 4 anything 40 LOL! So, genetics play an important part too. I just think you need more than just squats.

  • These guys are just ignorant. Barbell squats 3-6 reps and some box jumps is the best way to increase your vertical jump IMO.

  • at some stage max strength fails to further your vertical,thats when lighter more explosive methods work better.The very best jumpers dont have huge squats.

    Erroneous! Fulls squat is healthy. Also research all your shit first. Add heavy weights rather than a puny ball if you're not doing plyometrics. Plyometrics is just for quicky warm up or speed in reactive strength. It will not get you far in leaping without lifting. Lifting involves the prime muscles in jump!

  • Well i'm a basketball player and with my experience i agree with the other u need to ge explosive when u go up, because is when u get the power to jump if u go down your working for nothing. well i'm 168cm i'm 14 years old i'm guard on my team i need some advices, and a big train to dunck... i can only pull the net xD

  • Your pretty average for your height but I know many people in grade 9 who can dunk. First find out your flexibility, strength, and your vert. I'm also 14 and I have bad flexibility so I can't go all the way down when doing squats. I suggest you do lateral cone hops 40 a day maybe split into 2 times and do as many squats as you can in perfect form. If you want faster results then exercise your toes and form a 6 pack.

  • nothing special..i just started using it in everyday life....like hoppin fences, dunking, ankle hopping onto curbs instead of steppin on them...Jus did it for everyday things
