@monaco74 I think you are thinking of the Skytracker Four Beam Xenon Searchlights they used for special events. I have never seen the Luxor lights move.
@jay611j No, I know it was the Luxor. I say it in person when I stayed next door at the Excalibur and my room faced the Luxor. I remember reading a story about complaints from pilots about the light so they comprimised by making it stationary. True, the beam has been pointed straight up for 15 years now, but when Luxor first opened I swear the thing used to follow a circular path in the sky.

The light is so pointless but very cool. Waste of energy at the end of the day.
