  • He needs a wider stride to take pressure off of his arm. Otherwise he will spend more time on the disabled list than he will pitching.

  • his back-arm position is what killed his elbow

  • did anybody else think stephen farted when he pitched ?

  • This is dumb footage. The reason he had tommy john is after the clip ends anyways. It's how he finishes his hand. He cuts it off, doesn't finish his hand near his back left pocket.

  • I believe he's going to end up being the next Mark Prior. I am a believe that pitchers with this kind of velocity cannot afford to have a curve/slurve in their repertoire. The elbow cannot take the stress. I see the curveballs as smoking a cigarette. One won't kill you, but a habit will. John Smoltz had the same style with the same pitches. 4 reconstructive surgeries. I believe this is what got Eric Gagne too. It comes with the territory. Can't cheat the physics.

  • @halftimesportscards justin verlander throws 100 mph, and he hasn't been troubled by any arm complications.

  • @pacodude33 That does not mean that he won't encounter them as his career goes on. John Smoltz started in 1989 and did not break down until 10 years later. Verlander isn't exempt.

  • He's back and ready to go

  • wheres the follow through? i only see 2/3s of his mechanics....

  • We wish strasburg the best. Hoping to see a great comeback. I think he will

  • I'm no baseball player, but I don't see how his mechanics would really contribute to his crazy velocity... Its a really violent torquing motion, but it seems kinda short.. Still it goes to show just how strong his arm and legs must be!

Lincecum's got a much pretty pitching form, or to me at least.

  • @orangehasrhymes That's the whole point. You just answered your own question. I play pool and breaking a rack is very similar too velocity in pitching. People have the misconception that the harder you hit the cue ball the harder your break will be. Wrong. The faster you "snap" that cue ball the faster and harder your break will be. Same analogy applies to throwing velocity. Snapping creates torque and torque is power thus equals velocity. That's my 2 cents at least haha.

  • @jdmimport13 the bad thing about torque in baseball creates more injuries

  • @BaseballPride03 I like to call it,

    throw hard, meet Tommy John
