No, actually, in a boss fight, if the remaining counter gets too low and the boss isn't stunned as a result of a Trozei, he can actually increase the counter. Watch carefully at the Remaining counter when it gets to 10 or lower.

I dont know how you did that either. May only guess it that maybe you have to clear only the exact number that you still need to clear...like, he had 7 left, you beat him by getting exactly 7, no more, no less...I dunno
