  • Just got mine today from you. Love the light(2AAA), but the tailcap button rattling around bugs the hell out of me. Any idea if they are going to fix it on the new ones?

  • @seanp1129 I don't know of any plans to change the existing Preon lights.

  • are they waterproof?

  • @latag1993 Yes, to the IPX-8 standard, which basically means you can drop them in a puddle, but don't go diving with them.

  • @goingprepared will you be carrying the clicky tailcap for the Preon 1? And which version is better, the XPG or the XPG S2? (I ask because your site has the XPG S2 rated at 60 lumens vs the 70 on the XPG and the S2 is 39.99 vs 36.99

  • Just ordered it from you guys....thank sootch00 for the heads up of your company.

  • thanks for the comparisons

  • can you buy the preon 2 and a preon 1 body and swap them out?

  • @stun279 Yes, all the parts are interchangeable. When the Preon was first released, they had a kit that had all the parts to make a Preon 1 and 2, but those sold out quickly.

  • @goingprepared but all you need is the other body right?

  • @stun279 Yep, that's right.

  • @goingprepared thanks!

  • You recommend running those disposable Lithium E2 batteries by Energizer, or those generic alkaline batteries from RadioShack, Costco, etc. on the Preon 2?

  • @dahgutone I recommend rechargeable batteries, like the Rayovac low self discharge that we sell or Sanyo Eneloops.

  • This was my most recent light and has been great, but it has a bit of a whine. Has anybody else experienced this?

  • @glutn4punshmnt Yeah, inductor whine is common with lights like these.

  • Can you run a 14500 through the Preon ! ?

  • @tybeejeffro Not these. The P1 and P2 are AAA lights. The Quark AA can handle a 14500.

  • @goingprepared I mean with the 10440 batts...

  • @tybeejeffro I wouldn't recommend it, but people do it. They get really hot really fast.

  • @goingprepared Probably better to get a Quark MIni AA and run a 14500 protected in it ?

  • @tybeejeffro Those are going to get really hot really fast too. I wouldn't recommend running lithium ion batteries in a light that small, unless you plan on running it on high for very short periods (10 seconds or less).

  • Just bought a Preon 1 S2 version and compared it to my R5 version... the S2 is NOT brighter than the R5. Also 4Sevens will not handpick a brighter light for you if you happen to get a lemon, unlike BatteryJunction and other companies that go the length. I'll never shop again at 4Sevens.

  • @sublipara It's only 7% brighter, so your eyes would barely be able to tell the difference. There will also be slight differences from light to light.

  • @goingprepared That would be true if it were brighter at all. It's less bright! I'm working on a video to post this weekend.

  • bought this light after you're review and am very happy with it. It really is a great little light. I'm an EMT and I use it at work and at home. I can't believe how bright it is. It blows AA maglites out of the water! Thanks for the reviews

  • @txmalcontent No problem, thanks for the order.

  • adding the factory listed battery life to the videos would be cool. or the practical real life battery life if you know it.
