virgile71: mind control? the church? Do you live in another world? Let's see ... which nations are mind controlling ... oh north korea, oh china ... i wonder if these guys are hard core catholics?
can you name me one african nation where condom distribution has helped to decreased aids? I thought so ... none.
Doromir: Why should the church preach sex education and condoms when studies show it doesn't work? Second, no one disagree with you that aids is a big problem in africa ... but what catholics propose for decreasing the aids is abstinence (100% effective) and monogamous relationship.
@zphoenix22 The Catholic Church cares for roughly 27% of the people afflicted with HIV/AIDS worldwide, either through their hospitals, missions, etc. For you to throw out these silly insults, without a clue, makes you sadly typical of the young, the poorly educated, and easily misled. I pray for an opening of your heart and mind.
No lives are being destroyed? What planet are you living on? I've been to Africa many times. Aids is a HUGE problem there. People are dying horrible deaths. No one should be telling those people not to use condoms.
Excuse you Doromir, I am going to have to disagree with you. The use of condoms does play a role in spreading disease, as condoms tend to break, not used properly, and in countries in africa where money is scarce, can not be manufactured properly. But the BELIEF they will work still exists, and they use them, and the imperfect condoms rip, tear, or come off, as warning by even sexologists who try to educate on how to properly use a condom. Thus, the aids issue comes in play.

I would suggest in that case, that the church help give people sex education and teach them to use condoms properly. What would be your suggestion?

Amazing how catholicism is so popular in Africa, whereas it decays everywhere else.
It looks like the suffering population is seeking a desperate hope, where the Vatican is seeking a lost population in order to extend mind control.
Supply meets demand after all... no wonder !
