Hi! Im thinking about buying a fs-6 for my rc-3, but i also want to use it on the dd-7... The dd-7 only uses one channel, like the A.. So my question is: Should I buy one fs-6 and a fs-5U or should I just use one channel for the rc-3 and one for the dd-7? Thank you :)
@ACDCcoverkid In the end I would get the FS-6. Too much is better than not enough, and if you do decide to use the A/B you'll be happy you had the forsight. I am curious as to whether you could run two pedals FS functions at the same time. Let me know how it works out.
I just come into the idea to buy a loop station before christmas, and i see your video and also i visit the website of roland.
I have no idea how the Boss FS 6 works. Do I only need one 1/4 inch cable to connect the FS 6 and the RC loop station just like you did? No other thing should be done?

@heikoyh The only other option is to get a 1/4" Stereo male to a split L/R mono cables and plug them both into the A/B ports....though It sounds like extra cable for nothing though. The FS-6 works for other pedals too.
If I have a 3-channel amp, could I use this A/B footswitch to toggle between A-Crunch, B-Lead and Off-Clean? In other words, can I access all three channels through the footswitch, even though it's designed for two channels?
@tangantribe09 You can! lol. I just tried and it works!! How cool is that? Bear in mind you cant have both a mic in the aux and an instrument in the main input @ the same time.
So since you can't go backwards in phrases if you only have two phrases, does the A button go back to the first phrase from the second or does it go to a blank phrase?
Would you happen to know how to use two loop stations at the same time, in the same rig without recording existing loops from one looper into the other? I've seen some people use two or more loopers at once..
Hi there! I play alot of live gigs using the rc2 loop pedal and would like to buy this pedal only for switching through phrases to change keys ect. . .
So my question is: Can i loop a chord progression live and tap the a switch to switch to a different chord progression without bending down to switch the phrase nob? I guess when you want to make a live loop you have to play on a empty phrase? I hope i didn't just answer my own question! Thanks in advance
@S1ay3R007 Yes. If you hit the "A" pedal it will change to the next phrase as soon as the current loop is complete. NO bending required. ;) Live loops would require an empty phrase. I always keep #1 empty.
@telsonater so basicly if i do a live loop on phrase 1 which is empty and then press the "a" pedal it will switch to phrase 2 which is pre recorded? is it also possible to switch to phrase 3 4 5 6 ect? how will i know on which phrase i am? thanks !
@S1ay3R007 That's right, dude. You can switch to those other phrases phrases for sure. If you want to go from phrase 1 to phrase 5, you'd hit the "A" pedal 4 times. The dial will still be on 1 so you'll have to keep track in your head. If you have any empty phrases then it will skip them.
Ex: going from 1 to 5 again, if 4 is empty, you'd hit the "A" switch 3 times. I hope this helps, man.
hey man !!! I want to buy a looper I think the rs 20,,,,my question is can I change from one saved phrase to another with the footswich in real time???? so for example I play the phrase and chorus in a song and have diferent backtracks for each??? thank you so much.
@alexeipatrascu88 It doesn't work in real time. I think you'd need the rc-50 for that. If you watch the video you'll see the phrase switches over at the end of the current phrase after hitting the pedal.
i hope you check this... how do you get the A switch to change the phrase? mine does nothing. everything else works but that. maybe its the switch but could you give me some extra tips?
@ashwapollo Make sure you're stereo cable is plugged into the centre, or the mono cable in just the A side. Make sure the polarity and momentary/latch switches are set according to the specs in your manual. If that doesn't help, I'm not sure. Try a different cable. Let me know if it works.
Thanks for the vids. I have a RC-20 that I just love! It's really changed my playing forever. I love to create bass n drum parts in my DAW and then record them to one of the phrases and use them during LIVE play back as a backing track. The RC-30 is set to come out at the end of April with 3 HOURS OF RECORD TIME!!! 99 preset banks...two seperate loop channels... looks like I'll be getting the fs-6u as well. I HIGHLY suggest a Boss loop pedal to anybody who is a little bored with their playing
How much fer the two channel one, i'm new wiv switches, overall i want one that allows me to change the head from The Overdrive to the Clean channel. That's it. Help please.
@jfkdjfd It was $60 (Canadian). I just tried mine out and it does work as a footswitch for a head. You can even have momentary channel switching! If all you need it to switch back and forth you want a standard footswitch. They don't need batteries too. I have a 2 channel foot switch that does effects/distortion. It was 20 bucks, so I imagine a single footswitch would be $10-$15, my friend.
Do you know if you can record many phrases and then delete them one at a time in the reverse order that you recorded them in , or is it only the last phrase you can delete? Just to reiterate basically You can record 1 loop then 2 then 3 then 4 but can you delete them as 4 then 3 then 2 and finally back to your first loop?
@mikefrommontreal I'm glad you like the vids! The answer is no though. You can erease your dubbing, but if you try the same method to get rid of the next dub it adds it back. So once youve dubbed twice, the first one is there forever. There are a few kinks to work out.
@telsonater Boss aren't number one. They have better distribution and are more readily available for beginning guitarists/bassists. You should check out Devi Ever's effects. They are cheaper than Boss and are amazing quality.

Hi really helpful video, but I'm having trouble with the A switch - I've put the polarity/ mode in the right order (what is says in the manual) however I can't change phrases using the foot switch (BOSS FS 6), can you help, thanks
i have a question though, say if i am playing live with my band and i have a riff saved in one of the phrase sections to a certain tempo, say for some strange reason my drummer gets abit excited and is playing slightly faster than the phrase i have previously recorded, if i use the tap tempo b switch to match the drummer and and then play my phrase, will the phrase be at the tempo i have tapped?
sorry if thats abit hard to follow, id love your help!
Hey, great video, but just one thing: you CAN shift to any phrase you want by pressing the "A" pedal switch the corresponding number of times. Sometimes I got the wrong phrase, but the most times it works.
@telsonater Does the phrase switching go from 1 - 11 and then begin again at 1? So you could choose phrase 1, then tap the switch ten times to play phrase 11, then tap the switch two times to play phrase 2? Or am I going loopy?
@Quakelord1991 I don't have a guitar amp with channels. You'd have to try it. I know I can't use it instead of my channel selector on my Yorkville bass amp. You'd have to read your manual.
Ok im trying to get the A pedal to work for my RC 2 but it's not going to the next saved phrase. I messed with the polarity, the mode, and got my settings and nobs at the same place on the RC2 displayed from what i could see on the clip but its not switching. Its starting to piss me off because it was my favorite feature. Can anyone help
Cheers for the lesson. I just bought an RC2 and can only loop about 2 seconds and build over a 2 second loop. Is there another setting where I can do longer loops?
Also, I have hooked up an amplifier footswitch which seems to work like the FS6 you have and I want to use it to switch from phrase to phrase but cant even save phrases to use.
Please let me know if you can help me out with some tips and thanx for your help so far.
@MarkDally Hey man. I'm not sure how that problem would arise. There is space for 16 minutes of loops, total. There are 2-3 default loops already on the pedal when you buy it (9,10,11). I suggest erasing them. If that doesn't work, there may be something wrong with it. Let me know how it turns out. Thanks for watching!
Hey man! First off I want to say, thank you soo much for posting this wonderful video, I learned alot from it that I thought wasn't possible. But in your opinion, which loop station is better, this one or the RC-20XL? Can the 20 do more? Or if you have the FS-5 pedal can you do essentially the same as the 20?
@NickoBoogie Thanks man. I'm glad it helped. That's a tough one....the 20 would obviously be less hassle: it's in one piece, it has a mic in plus separate volume knobs for inst/mic, it has different buttons for each thing it can do, so on stage it's much clearer and easier to use.
It is bluky though. The FS pedals can be used on any BOSS pedal, but if this is your only one, you might be better off with the 20. I find the 2 easy to use and hassle free, plus I use it with other BOSS pedals. For the $, I'd say 2 all the way my man. I hope this helps
@NickoBoogie Hey man. I don't have an RC-20, but it would be easier to use. It has a mic input. A few other nice features. If you're not concerned with room, go 20. You can use the FS with it. But with the FS-6 its essentially the same, more compact and $50 cheaper. I'm glad you liked the vids man. Thanks for watching.
@NickoBoogie Don't mean to butt into anything, but the main difference between the two is the 20XL allows reversing of loops and such. But other than that, it has the same features.
@vancoovur You can set them from latch to momentary with a swtich. Each BOSS pedal manual will tell you how to set them, otherwise it's optional. I have another vid explaining the FS-6 on my channel. Thanks, my friend.
Yes. The drum beat you choose will also be recorded when you save you loop. You use the "Guide" knob to adjust the volume of it. You can't "turn" it off, but you can turn the volume down to zero. That's just as good. I wish it would run stereo so you could record the beat separately on a mixer. Thanks for watching, my friend!
hi, youv gave me a really good example of what the fs-6 does, its what i need to start doing gigs again, but iv got just one question... say your doing a gig live with the boss rc-2 and you click the A pedal on the fs-6 to change phase say for example from 1 to 2 can you change phase back from like 2-1??? because if you save 2 for a song like one for the verse and one for the chorus can you go to the next one and back again for the verse???

Hey, Man. I'm glad my video helped. Unfortunatley, you can't go backwards to phrase one. It would make sense but I don't think it's possible. I'll put that in the video.
Yes, it can. You can have one switch for FX on/off and the other changes channels, from clean to drive, I think. I don't have a CUBE, but I think that's what it has. Let me know if this helpped.
For sure, my friend. The amp you're using has to be compatable with BOSS/Roland products, though. It might not work on other amps. I've also been told you can plug a sustain pedal for a keyboard into the footswitch jack and it will work. I hope that helps, my friend. Thanks a million!
If it's possible the ME70 manual will tell you. I just looked online and there is an input for "bank up/down or reverb/preamp on/off" so the FS-6 should work. I would still consult the manual. God, I love BOSS. Thanks for watching
ah ha!! Maybe you could help me?? i am gettin the boss gt-10 off santa (lol) and wondered if getting the Fs6 also would it enable me to get even more out of the gt-10 for ease of use??
It would deffinately make it easier to use. You can set it up to have 3/4 ctrl switches instead of 2, which is already sweet. You can have one always set to "tuner/bypass" which is what I do. I just got the GT-10B. If you use BOSS products, The FS-6 is sweet any way.
That's all you can do, my friend. When you turn the drums down they're technically "off". Your mixer will not pick up the drum beat if the drum volume is at zero.
I have another video explaining the footswitch alone. Check my related videos. So whatever pedal you're attaching it to will have the polarity settings in the manual.
Thank you, friend. Unfortunately, thats the one part that sucks about it. You can only use the "A" pedal to move to the NEXT phrase. Not the previous.
Another groovin video man, that FS 6 sure makes a difference, it looks a lot easier to tap out a fast metal rhythm using the B button on the FS 6 rather than using the one on the actual pedal. the ability to switch to phrases looks like it could be amazingly useful, have em all stacked up for a whole song then just switch using the A switch. i could output my drumkit from hell plugin into the input of the rc2 as well that would be cool. great vid have a gr8 week....
Thanks again, man. You're right. It's much easier to tap a quick rhythm with the B pedal. I hate drum machine sounds so looping actual drums is sweet!!! Thats a good idea. My buddy has an electric kit. Ill try it. I know a guy that does a one man show with his RC-2. Its sweet. Thanks for watching!
hey one more question i just bought the fs-6 with the loop station as well and the b button does everything it is supposed to but the a dosnt do any thing can u give recomendations or ur settings
The A button switches the phrase that you're on, to the next saved phrase. If you have no loops saved on it, it will do nothing. If you're on #1 and you hit the A, it will send you to saved phrase #2 after the loop finishes its circut. If nothing is saved on #2 it will goto #3, #4, etc, until it finds a saved phrase.
Wow i just bought one and exactly the same is happening to me, did you find out anything that it could be its driving me nuts!!! Im using it with the ME-20.
THANK YOU SO MUCH. I'm learning a lot through your videos. I have a question though. So basically, footswitches exist just to make your life easier using the looping stations?
Hi. I'm glad these videos help you. The BOSS website videos are mediocre at best. They would sell more products if they actually told you what they did. Who wants to dump 200 bills on something they know nothing about? To answer your question, the external foot swtiches make life easier for all BOSS pedals. Expression pedals allow you to control fx mix. A and B switches give you more control without having to stop what you're doing to tinker with knobs. Hope this helps
Hi, nice demo. I play keyboards (tell with the account name) I was going to get one these but then though cause I already had a Yamaha sustain pedal why not see if it works and it does. Only downside is that it can only do what pedal B does on the FS-6. Still works great though.

@MarkDally That worked? Or did you do something else?

I have this as part of my set up and I have no idea how to use it! HELP!!!

@thejakeludwig What's up? No idea from square one?
telsonater 1 year ago
@thejakeludwig If you don't answer I can't help you.
telsonater 1 year ago
@telsonater Sorry what was the question again?
thejakeludwig 1 year ago
Cheers for the lesson. I just bought an RC2 and can only loop about 2 seconds and build over a 2 second loop. Is there another setting where I can do longer loops?
Also, I have hooked up an amplifier footswitch which seems to work like the FS6 you have and I want to use it to switch from phrase to phrase but cant even save phrases to use.
Please let me know if you can help me out with some tips and thanx for your help so far.
MarkDally 1 year ago
@MarkDally Hey man. I'm not sure how that problem would arise. There is space for 16 minutes of loops, total. There are 2-3 default loops already on the pedal when you buy it (9,10,11). I suggest erasing them. If that doesn't work, there may be something wrong with it. Let me know how it turns out. Thanks for watching!
telsonater 1 year ago
man switch forward but not back?
wat a shit lol
Lachy101 1 year ago
@Lachy101 Doesn't make sense to me either. I'm not sure if the RC-50 can or not....probably

@telsonater
are the drums in dthe loop stadion?
MrIbanez111 1 year ago
@MrIbanez111 Yeah man. They're built in. They call it the "Guide" though. Thanks for watching
telsonater 1 year ago
@MrIbanez111 Were you saying that to be funny or were u serious?.... The sound of drums are in the loop station NOT actual drums lmao lol haha
thejakeludwig 1 year ago
NickoBoogie 1 year ago
@NickoBoogie Thanks man. I'm glad it helped. That's a tough one....the 20 would obviously be less hassle: it's in one piece, it has a mic in plus separate volume knobs for inst/mic, it has different buttons for each thing it can do, so on stage it's much clearer and easier to use.
telsonater 1 year ago
It is bluky though. The FS pedals can be used on any BOSS pedal, but if this is your only one, you might be better off with the 20. I find the 2 easy to use and hassle free, plus I use it with other BOSS pedals. For the $, I'd say 2 all the way my man. I hope this helps
telsonater 1 year ago
@NickoBoogie Hey man. I don't have an RC-20, but it would be easier to use. It has a mic input. A few other nice features. If you're not concerned with room, go 20. You can use the FS with it. But with the FS-6 its essentially the same, more compact and $50 cheaper. I'm glad you liked the vids man. Thanks for watching.
telsonater 1 year ago
@NickoBoogie Don't mean to butt into anything, but the main difference between the two is the 20XL allows reversing of loops and such. But other than that, it has the same features.
TheDoesitmatter3 1 year ago
can u plus this into some thing like a rc-2/boss ds-2 on A and something like a dd-7 for tap tempo on B?
alexdaman8 1 year ago
@alexdaman8 It will work with any BOSS pedal with an optional footswitch.
telsonater 1 year ago
Which switch is set to latch and which to momentary (or are they both one or the other)? A good informative video. Thanks for taking the time.
vancoovur 1 year ago
@vancoovur You can set them from latch to momentary with a swtich. Each BOSS pedal manual will tell you how to set them, otherwise it's optional. I have another vid explaining the FS-6 on my channel. Thanks, my friend.

telsonater 1 year ago
The Loop Station records also, right? And you can playback your initial beat for backup sound?
mustsilm 1 year ago

It's so tough to find really useful information/reviews on the RC-2. Yours are great, though. Thanks!

hi, youv gave me a really good example of what the fs-6 does, its what i need to start doing gigs again, but iv got just one question... say your doing a gig live with the boss rc-2 and you click the A pedal on the fs-6 to change phase say for example from 1 to 2 can you change phase back from like 2-1??? because if you save 2 for a song like one for the verse and one for the chorus can you go to the next one and back again for the verse???

Hey, Man. I'm glad my video helped. Unfortunatley, you can't go backwards to phrase one. It would make sense but I don't think it's possible. I'll put that in the video.
telsonater 2 years ago
can this change the effects of and off on a cube 30
ranga5110 2 years ago
Yes, it can. You can have one switch for FX on/off and the other changes channels, from clean to drive, I think. I don't have a CUBE, but I think that's what it has. Let me know if this helpped.
telsonater 2 years ago
can this switch channels on an amp e.g from clean to distorsion??
thanks
hipeas93 2 years ago
For sure, my friend. The amp you're using has to be compatable with BOSS/Roland products, though. It might not work on other amps. I've also been told you can plug a sustain pedal for a keyboard into the footswitch jack and it will work. I hope that helps, my friend. Thanks a million!
telsonater 2 years ago
yeah thanks ive got a boss ME-70 so i should work on that thanks for the info!!
hipeas93 2 years ago
Anytime. Thanks for watching.

nice ;D
question...can i use the fs6 for bank up and bank down?on the boss me 70?
and how?
thanks ;D
Shuffle4everAUT 2 years ago
If it's possible the ME70 manual will tell you. I just looked online and there is an input for "bank up/down or reverb/preamp on/off" so the FS-6 should work. I would still consult the manual. God, I love BOSS. Thanks for watching
telsonater 2 years ago
ah ha!! Maybe you could help me?? i am gettin the boss gt-10 off santa (lol) and wondered if getting the Fs6 also would it enable me to get even more out of the gt-10 for ease of use??
Any feedback very welcome, thanks in advnce
lantyboy 2 years ago
It would deffinately make it easier to use. You can set it up to have 3/4 ctrl switches instead of 2, which is already sweet. You can have one always set to "tuner/bypass" which is what I do. I just got the GT-10B. If you use BOSS products, The FS-6 is sweet any way.
telsonater 2 years ago
@telsonater Thx for the help man, was thinking one for the tuner and one for the wammy effect :)

I want to record without the drum beats. How do you do that?I realize I can turn it down but I don't want drums at all.
MHathaway100 2 years ago
That's all you can do, my friend. When you turn the drums down they're technically "off". Your mixer will not pick up the drum beat if the drum volume is at zero.
telsonater 2 years ago
Just wondering if you could tell us which mode both switches are set to? and does the polarity matter? Thanks
MHathaway100 2 years ago
I have another video explaining the footswitch alone. Check my related videos. So whatever pedal you're attaching it to will have the polarity settings in the manual.
telsonater 2 years ago
nice video!! can you also use the fs6 pedal to go back to previous phrase?
44baluyot 2 years ago
Thank you, friend. Unfortunately, thats the one part that sucks about it. You can only use the "A" pedal to move to the NEXT phrase. Not the previous.
telsonater 2 years ago
now i know what is a foot switch..thanks to this video
truth3110 2 years ago 2
Glad I could help, my friend.
telsonater 2 years ago
Another groovin video man, that FS 6 sure makes a difference, it looks a lot easier to tap out a fast metal rhythm using the B button on the FS 6 rather than using the one on the actual pedal. the ability to switch to phrases looks like it could be amazingly useful, have em all stacked up for a whole song then just switch using the A switch. i could output my drumkit from hell plugin into the input of the rc2 as well that would be cool. great vid have a gr8 week....
chopperfoto 2 years ago 2
Thanks again, man. You're right. It's much easier to tap a quick rhythm with the B pedal. I hate drum machine sounds so looping actual drums is sweet!!! Thats a good idea. My buddy has an electric kit. Ill try it. I know a guy that does a one man show with his RC-2. Its sweet. Thanks for watching!
telsonater 2 years ago
hey one more question i just bought the fs-6 with the loop station as well and the b button does everything it is supposed to but the a dosnt do any thing can u give recomendations or ur settings
mikedapro4 2 years ago 2
The A button switches the phrase that you're on, to the next saved phrase. If you have no loops saved on it, it will do nothing. If you're on #1 and you hit the A, it will send you to saved phrase #2 after the loop finishes its circut. If nothing is saved on #2 it will goto #3, #4, etc, until it finds a saved phrase.
telsonater 2 years ago
Wow i just bought one and exactly the same is happening to me, did you find out anything that it could be its driving me nuts!!! Im using it with the ME-20.
GFACE83 2 years ago 2
Hey mate i just worked it out and mines is working!!! You need a stereo to stereo cable you are probably using a mono to mono like i was!!!

hey when u say stereo cable at like 30 seconds that just means like a regular lead right??
mikedapro4 2 years ago 4
I'm not sure what a "lead" is man. lol. I don't know too much about that stuff.
A regular instrument cable has one black ring. Stereo cable has two (left, right). It's like for an expression pedal.
telsonater 2 years ago
THANK YOU SO MUCH. I'm learning a lot through your videos. I have a question though. So basically, footswitches exist just to make your life easier using the looping stations?
anahmi 2 years ago 7
Hope this helps
telsonater 2 years ago
Hi, nice demo. I play keyboards (tell with the account name) I was going to get one these but then though cause I already had a Yamaha sustain pedal why not see if it works and it does. Only downside is that it can only do what pedal B does on the FS-6. Still works great though.
kingofkeyboards 2 years ago 3
Thanks! I use my keyboard to make loops all the time. I never thought the sustain pedal would act the same way as the
FS-6. I once accidently plugged my bass into the FS input and the drum guide would turn on as fast as you turned the volume from 0 to 10.
