@chunkyng Half of Russia is in Asia and in fact boarders China as well as Mongolia so yes, there are Russian, Russian-Speaking people who are Asian and have thinner eyes.
@Lavron4151 with most of what they called "white russia" under ocupation new recruits were mostly from the easternmost regions, many of which had never even seen a car or plane. 80% of Soviet males born in 1923 didn't survive WWII.

But the proportion tended to rise as war progressed, I can only suppose. Germans called them all Siberians, and they were generally feared. Some actually sent to their families glass taken from windows, in Germany, as apparently it was a scarce commodity back home.
That's the movie about prisoners who had a chance for "freedom" by going to the front line instead of dying in the prison... The movie is not about Russian army, but about special units created from prisoners.
Historically, the deal was 1 month of war for 1 year of the prison sentence.
