Yeah sad news the orbital burn failed but hopefully it will enter orbit ok when it returns to Venus in 2016. Just to note the IKAROS solar sail worked perfectly flying by Venus on its way to the Sun.

the probe failed to enter the orbit around Venus, but it's in good shape and will try again in a few years.

Lol me again also launched on the same rocket was the IKAROS the first ever solar sail probe which will make its own way to Venus, flyby then onwards to study the Sun, if all goes well a 50 meter solar sail (IKAROS is "only" 20m) will be launched towards Jupiter by the end of the decade.

The sig raising was an EPIC sucess they were told they had to get 10 thousand signatures they got over 260,000!! They probe has metal plates to balance the weight out and Miku,s image was pressed onto the plates. Akatsuki (which translated literally means Dawn) launched sucessfully on May 20th 2010 and will reach Venus in December and spend 2+ years making the most detailed study of the planet so far.
