@AEMoreira81 I agree. I played this for my 13 year old and the look on her face was priceless. She said " This is a new song??" and I said, " no,sweety, this is back in the late 70's early 80's. and this is Andy Gibb." She typed in his name and found that he was dead, and then the look on her face was comical. But she said " This is teenybopper stuff." I told her that yes, it was back in my day. She said that music genre hasn't changed much. I agree.
memoriee of family & friends and places...the fun and magic of enjoying life...can't take taht away, it will live forever...wont change too....RIP andy!
was only 9YO in 1978. I grew through the 70's and now I really know how great it was with music like this. It was taken for granted as the radio poured out what we now realise to be all great songs probably because they were thought out by music artist's with a genuine passion for creating it and not driven by big "sex imagery to teens equals fast money" recording companies like Sony and the like. Bands like 10CC, ELO Is it just me or has all the great stuff become a thing of the past
Guess I'm feeling nostalgic, as I will be 40 years old in a few months. I would have to say Andy Gibb was my biggest crush back in the 70's-early 80's. Looking back, he was a hottie. Of course, back then, I referred to him as a "fox"! No matter how much I may get teased, I am a huge fan of the Bee Gee's / Andy Gibb!! Their music makes me smile and still can't stop myself from dancing!!
i like so much all thnexits of him, how i would like be in it time and can chare all the musics of as big man in the genery of love, in it time, what gof have with him ....
Yes.... we had some of these vinyls in NZ back in the day. Real music that meant something not this production line rubbish they put on shelves just for sales and revenue. Although alot of this old music still gets air play this generation would never understand the real message behind some of these great artists. They prefer someone show them some cleavage and dance like some spastic out of a mental clinic........music has lost its 'feel'
Oh Lord, I was so crazy about Andy. My heart belongs to the 70's. I was in my 20's. There were so many good and bad times and I thought I would never get old. Right, here I am but my mind forgot to catch up. Love you Andy darling.
WOW , It's been so long to remember the GARGANTUAN crush I had on this man takes me back to being a child better than everything. The fact that it is so bittersweet with me going on to get to live a life that he so sadly accidentally shortened is truly a sad thing. I guess we can be blessed that we at least have these photos and the music that he and his brothers gave and continue to give us,
thanks Andy and I AM GOING TO MARRY YOU IN SOME REALM!!!!!
This era was so good and brings back so many memories of innocent times. Back where artist had real talent, they recorded and sang live and had to find creative and poetic ways to express themselves. Not like the push button produced crap they are calling music nowadays. I feel so sorry for my kids; their golden oldies will include Stanky Leg and Jerk...thank you for posting this song...I just love it.
@diashon31 Forget "Stanky Leg," their idea of a Golden Oldie is more likely to be Adam Lambert or the Black Eyed Peas. As long as Simon Cowell has anything to say about it, what was once the rule will remain the exception.
@diashon31 I remember the feelings of true love with this song. It pains me now to think one can be so optimistic despite the outcome! Too bad we can't travel back in time and tell ourselves to forget it ! LOL
@diashon31 definitely agree, being my age and being forced to listen to todays radio really sucks, i resent to tell my kids that our classics are soulja boy & jerk... 85 percent of my ipod is full of music that was made when i wasnt born and im proud to say that
I remember the mid to late 80's when everybody was really hating this disco stuff, including myself. How "cheesy" it sounded at the time. 25 years later, it actually sounds good, standing the test of time, especially when compared to the pre-processed pop crap music execs push on us nowadays (with very few exceptions). Fact is, the brothers Gibb were super-talented, regardless of whether one likes the disco 'sound' per-say. The melodies and harmonies are superb.
awesome cool memories of the 70s,song still makes me feel bad ass. poor Andy Gibb. what a nice kid.Bet ya he has got some great new songs for us when we get where we are going!
adoro a Andy Gibb, cuando era una nina era mi mas grande amor , siempre lo recuerdo, que los angeles esten disfrutando tu bella voz, te recordare por siempre
I was in fourth grade.Only child of a single Mom.I asked her what she wanted for Xmas. This 45.Of course I got it all wrong. She has been gone for 4 years.I think we had the same taste in men and music.
Those were such foreign, strange times compared to today. I can't relate to it anymore in spite of my growing up back then. It seems kind of unnatural and dangerous to listen to. It's really abnormal in terms of being so disconnected from the reality of the world. It's "denial" music. Denial there are real serious problems in the world to address. It's fabricated highly produced music. This guy's voice is strange, it doesn't sound like a man singing. He looks strange. Really weird time 70s
I grew then too, what is wrong with going down memory lane, those were the happist times of my life. Bee gees, America, etc. I think the world and at least memphis tn where I live now was much safter and a happy time for all. It is not denial music, it is better than most that comes out today. It takes away or least me away from everyday pressure and back in time. i did not know how well I had it in the late 60s and 70s.......
You got to be kidding about dangerous to listen too. What about this Rap music talking about killing cops and rapeing women. It is not Denial, music. For me as I have already said, it takes back to a great time in my life. It makes me feel better, he had a high voice, but he does not look strange. He is dressed nice, Andy really loved what he did and he brought happiness to many folks.
This was the biggest song of the year 1977, at least according to ATO40, it was also #1 for 3 weeks and still stands out as one of my favorites from the Disco era. Andy was big thru the height of the Disco era and dressed accordingly. I only wish sometimes that the Disco era could of went on forever, at least as far as the dress code went, I never saw young people dressed so sharp, the guys in particular wore their cloths to fit their bods, nowadays such guys would be the playboy type. Thanks
I was 17 in 1977, I loved the Disco era and the bee gees, when we out, we dressed nice I agree with you about how kids dress today. God, I had a green Leisure suit....... Oh those were the days!!!
i wonder if my parents dressed like that? I don't agree with you taste in clothes (though that may be because i'm 14) but your taste in music is great! Almost all of the new music today is awful!
@drefeno they did, I cant believe some of the clothes i wore when I look back at home movies and pictures, thanks for the comment on music. I agree with you, I wish my 17 year son thought like you on music. Have a great day
I was born in 1975 so i missed the era of bell bottom disco. But my mother still made me were them. I was the only kid w bell bottoms on in school in the 80's. I happy she is a mexi-disco-hippie. I know good music and LOVE this song. Thanks mom for the bell bottoms.
growing up with bee gee loving prents yea im only 18 but i do apreciate this song i really caught an interst inandy after watching his life on e i didnt even know barry and maruice had another brother oh well rip andy gibb your loved and missed
Was he gay? Well if so it wuld figure as so many of the best guys are:) I loved andy gibb- sadly he died and we were never married despite my ten-year-old roller skating goals.
Thank you for posting it brings me back to 5th grade and all the girls had Andy Gibb posters on their walls (including me). So sad that he died (heart disease, maybe broken heart) at only age 30. Such a loss of an awesome person and voice. Thank you for this video!
So you did not like a stupid comment made by some stupid poster on the internet and you immediately generalize about a whole continent? I am glad I am not whatever you are.
Andy didn't die from drugs or alcohol. The years of drug abuse were just a contributing factor. He had a viral infection in his heart and the years of drug abuse made his heart too weak to fight it off. The doctors were scheduling more test the same morning he died at around 8:45am. His mother was with him at the time in Oxford, England
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
A hairy man is a real man. You can smell his scent and it is what he is meant to be. Any man with hair who feels he has to shave it is uncomfortable with his masculininty. Hair is great! Cuddle in his chest and love it. Stroke it and appreciate it. It is what a real man is... Only GAY men have to shave.
@deannegirton wow that is a little extreme don't you think... I mean everyone is entitled to their own opinion but "GAY" men aren't the only ones who shave their chest. and alot of women don't like guys with hairy chests... in fact I can't think of a single woman I know who likes a hairy chest let alone one who would "cuddle" with one:)
Totally true. I am angry at his loss - and I do not consider myself a "music person". His contribution to music I feel has not been fully appreciated, because his style has a mix of talent and presentation rarely encountered today. Today it is just about the bottom line. - a refugee from the 1980's.
@SHAKEyaCANS19 i guess victoria did not want to be part of his cocaine lifetsyle...i would have left too. she was smart. drugs are deadly and wreck you life, your love and your health. i love this song andf i am sad that he got hooked and destroyed his life.
Victoria broke up with him because of his drug abuse, she said so & so did his family. He had quit coke and had recorded a few songs for a comeback album, but it was too late. He had been born with a heart defect, which he did'nt know about until he was almost 30. Cocaine causes your heart to race, and his abuse of it caused severe damage.
dude it's true...he loved her so much and she fucked around on him and broke his heart..it was in all the papers at the time..it was all down hill for him from then on, he had a major mental meltdown because of victoria principle
I bought this and shadow dancing on a 45 single record when i was a kid. Still play this cd today. I can picture Justin Timberlake redoing this & driving the girls crazy. LOL R.I.P. Andy and Maurice Bee Gees Forever!
why should i leave any song of my sweet Andy GIBB ... from my comments ... who ever in the world will visit his site will surely admit that HE WAS REALLY MINE and i was HIS... i loved him ... i love him... and i will always LOVE with HIM.... only Andy"s Shannon.
dis track is awesome. it doesnt matter that he didnt write this track elvis didnt write any of his songs JZLucas. andy had talent enough to perfiorm and he could sing.
I'm not gay, but I can see how people would find him, well, very attractive. But if you want to talk 70's teeny-bop icons, I always wished I could have looked like David Cassidy. High school would have been so much easier, especially with the gals. He was a really good looking guy with really cool hair.
A lot of guys back in the 70s werent shaving theyre chests. Thats alot more common today. Its also not just "faggots' " ,as you so intelligently put it, lots of straight guys shave as well. Most of the reason "faggots" & other guys shave now is because when you get muscled, hair can hide it. Andy, the sweet guy, wasnt muscular, so no reason to shave. But it wasnt done back then much. You should say gay instead of "faggot", bucball. How can a guy called bucball call anjyone a faggot??Cmon dude.
@patricklaieta: LOL so true! My man is straight and he shaves.....so shaving your chest does not mean you are gay. And actually a soft chest is better to sleep with. :D
Andy Gibb was the first boy I ever fell in love with. I was 10 years old and I bought his album. I had every TEEN BEAT magazine and all I ever wanted was to meet Andy Gibb!
When he passed, I knew that life and happiness were fleeting and we have to make the most of every day.
I miss Andy to this day. I'm 42 yrs old and I miss Andy Gibb.
Andy was so hot in his time. He resembles his gorgeous brother, Barry. What a shame he was emotionally distraught over his Charlie's Angel to commit suicide.
Whew...the seriously hot Gibb brother.

So you did not like a stupid comment made by some stupid poster on the internet and you immediately generalize about a whole continent? I am glad I am not whatever you are.

gre are you stupid??? he most certainly died from alcohol and drugs!!! you fucking fool!!!
christophersboy 2 years ago
ACTUALLY Chrisopher, gre is correct.
Purrrsuasive1 2 years ago
Andy didn't die from drugs or alcohol. The years of drug abuse were just a contributing factor. He had a viral infection in his heart and the years of drug abuse made his heart too weak to fight it off. The doctors were scheduling more test the same morning he died at around 8:45am. His mother was with him at the time in Oxford, England

HOWEVER..., I shave and I am not gay.
abacab987 2 years ago
@deannegirton wow that is a little extreme don't you think... I mean everyone is entitled to their own opinion but "GAY" men aren't the only ones who shave their chest. and alot of women don't like guys with hairy chests... in fact I can't think of a single woman I know who likes a hairy chest let alone one who would "cuddle" with one:)

OOH....he was such a hottie. This is by far my favorite song from the 70's. I can't believe he's been gone for more than 21 years already.

What a lovely soul. He will be sadly missed.
eircom2222 2 years ago 3
Totally true. I am angry at his loss - and I do not consider myself a "music person". His contribution to music I feel has not been fully appreciated, because his style has a mix of talent and presentation rarely encountered today. Today it is just about the bottom line. - a refugee from the 1980's.

That happend!!!!!!

How could you want to leave him? If I had the chance I would stay with him forever!
SHAKEyaCANS19 2 years ago 4
@SHAKEyaCANS19 i guess victoria did not want to be part of his cocaine lifetsyle...i would have left too. she was smart. drugs are deadly and wreck you life, your love and your health. i love this song andf i am sad that he got hooked and destroyed his life.
best1forward 2 years ago
Too bad he left - so much talent. Who says love doesn't kill?
xijprett 2 years ago 3
Victoria broke up with him because of his drug abuse, she said so & so did his family. He had quit coke and had recorded a few songs for a comeback album, but it was too late. He had been born with a heart defect, which he did'nt know about until he was almost 30. Cocaine causes your heart to race, and his abuse of it caused severe damage.

As a teenage boy trying to come to terms with my sexuality seeing Andy Gibb on TV convinced me there was no going back, god he was a hottie
dwht100 2 years ago
I'm not gay, but I can see how people would find him, well, very attractive. But if you want to talk 70's teeny-bop icons, I always wished I could have looked like David Cassidy. High school would have been so much easier, especially with the gals. He was a really good looking guy with really cool hair.

at least he didnt shave his chest like the faggot pretty boys of today
bucball37 2 years ago
A lot of guys back in the 70s werent shaving theyre chests. Thats alot more common today. Its also not just "faggots' " ,as you so intelligently put it, lots of straight guys shave as well. Most of the reason "faggots" & other guys shave now is because when you get muscled, hair can hide it. Andy, the sweet guy, wasnt muscular, so no reason to shave. But it wasnt done back then much. You should say gay instead of "faggot", bucball. How can a guy called bucball call anjyone a faggot??Cmon dude.
patricklaieta 2 years ago
@patricklaieta: LOL so true! My man is straight and he shaves.....so shaving your chest does not mean you are gay. And actually a soft chest is better to sleep with. :D

Andy Gibb was the first boy I ever fell in love with. I was 10 years old and I bought his album. I had every TEEN BEAT magazine and all I ever wanted was to meet Andy Gibb!
When he passed, I knew that life and happiness were fleeting and we have to make the most of every day.
I miss Andy to this day. I'm 42 yrs old and I miss Andy Gibb.
