Franklin Bruno and Nothing Painted Blue are the single greatest musical outfit in the history of recorded music. I owe this man and his bandmates so much that none of you nor anyone in the band would care to hear about. buy Franklin, you will forever be a big part of my return from 2 months congnitive to genius in the span of months.
I show the Amateurist early on in my NewGenres course.. Perception/reception/transmission/performance module. Students invariably get pissed off and fight with me about it, then later in the semester, one or two will always ask to see it again. I need a digi copy, I only have the Joanie 4 Jackie VHS.
I was lucky to see it at the Pacific Film Archives in '98.
Then from a good little video store where I found a DVD copy of some July shorts, including 'The Amateurist'. I saw it once in the last decade, and when they were closing down I tried to buy it, but the owner want a LOT of money for it.
There's a way to "torrent" 'Love Diamond'/'Swan Tool'/'Nest of Tens'/'The Amateurist'/'Atlanta'/&/'Haysha Royko' -- all together. I guess I don't know the first thing about torrents. I tried.

Finally someone mentions the MUSIC. That was the main point of the video, of course.

Ugh. Way to combine a great band with the queen of cotton candy solipsism...

1998 was the year I discovered her work. I devoured all I could. I have a sort of sentimental attachment to that year, so sure as shootin' I agree!
