it is really sad, but true, that by today's 'standards of beauty', bettie would've had her teeth straightened, hr nose thinned, and probably told to lose 20 lbs! no one today is truly beautiful anymore, they are not allowed to be. 3/4 of hollywood looks like cabbage patch dolls. thank goodness we have these films and others of women with real womens' bodies like marilyn, jayne, sophia,ava...those were beautiful women!

People don't realize that plastic surgery has been around a long time. Marilynn Monroe had a nose job and chin implant. Dieting was an obsession, too. I found my grandparents fitness and yoga books.

Marilyn's surgery was minimal, and yes, it has been around since after WWII. however, since the 70's it has run rampant, and become so available, everyone is doing it. it's gross. there were no jaqueline wildensteins until the last 20 years...are we so filled with self hatred that we cut up and pump up our bodies with foreign substances in an effort to stay young and beautiful....isn't working, folks!! love who you are and what you look like, period!

Not all women these days shave down under and though as a female I can't understand why one wouldn't since I find it so much more hygenic and simple, there's nothing wrong with having a bit of fuzz.. Sweat and body odour are also "normal and natural", as is flatulence come to that. However, things move on and for the most part don't return to the way they were. I'm not predicting any sudden change amongst men that once more makes Rubenesque figures or armpit hair desirable. Whilst not averse to a bit of fuzziness or a well-tailored "landing strip", I now shudder when I think back to the dense (and sometimes prickly) undergrowth I often had to work my way through in my younger days.

Yes but those aren't exactly hygenic or healthy beyond a certain point. Plenty of non-shaved women are just as hygenic as shaved ones; it doesn't say anything about a female. Armpit hair is another thing anyway.

Besides, the idea that women do everything they do just for men is sexist and outdated. (Even pin-up Betty Page was quoted as saying she believed that sex was special and a part of love and she didn't just do it with anyone. Her career wasn't just to entertain men.)
