  • sounds sooo great, can you share the chord progression?

  • @dnunezist -Thanks! The chords are from a standard tune, and its called: Body and Soul. The basic chords are: Ebm-Bb-Ebm-Ab- Db-Gb-Fm-Bb Ebm-Ebm/Db(left hand)-Ebm/C(left hand) F-Bbm-Ebm-Ab-Db-Bb-repeat from beginning. Brigde: Db-em-A D-em-F#m-Gm- F#m-B-Em-A-D Dm-G-C-A- Dm-G- C-B-Bb-B-Back to the beginning. I hope this helps! Best Regards Kjell
  • Lovely playing my friend....inspirational..the rhodes is my fav sound! God bless you! :-)

  • @jackbauer100 - Thank you!!

  • man what a lovely keyboard... and you got that Minimoog as well... I want to have those as well some day :D For now I am very happy with my Nord Electro 2 and Little Phatty though ^^ Your playing is great as well btw, very nice phaser effect u got there :D

  • @JosefK93 -Thanks! You should go for a Rhodes and put your Little Phatty on it!

  • Absolutely lovely, what a beautiful sound(- -,)best...

  • damn good chords pleas make a tutorial

  • very nice playing my friend. and what a superb sound !

  • @CeruttiTroutman-Thank you, I,m happy you like it! It was recorded in a very simple way, just a cheap mic close to the amplifier(Roland JC 160), but I think it sounds ok.

  • @fystasjoppheng do u have also tried the roland jc 120 with the 2x12 speakers? what do u recommend more for a rhodes? i think about it to get a amplifier for my mk2 :)

  • @CeruttiTroutman-I have only tried the Fender Twin Reverb(with JBL loadspeakers) and my JC 160, but the 120 shold be very nice-a classic combination with the Rhodes.

  • @fystasjoppheng hmm ... i absolutely want a 160 too ... maybe i found one in the future on the internet, or i buy a 120 ... i don't know at the moment ;)

    Thanks for your help.

  • his is the best ever, a \rhodes with a smallstone.. brings back all those sweet seventies memories..t

  • Great Sound I Miss the sound of a fender and the Wulritzer. Nice Playing

  • sounds like Body and Soul.

  • @two9parkave-Thats right! Thanks!

  • What do you have the bass boost knob set to in this video?

  • @dashboardmenagerie - I dont remember, but my normal setting are around 5-6, I guess...

  • Mr. Ellingsen?

  • I'm trying to learn piano at the moment. I know all the basic triad chords, scales etc. But how long it takes until I can play neosoul / jazzy stuff like this? Anyone have a website or link to point me into some tutorials?

  • @funkulankula-Have you worked with the 2-5-1 chordprogressions? Also Abersold have some good books and playalong cds. I learned a lot from this. Do a search for jazzpiano forums as well.

  • @funkulankula look up neo soul piano here on youtube, there's tons of stuff

  • @funkulankula the cool thing about these keyboards is you kind of automatically start learning to play jazzy. everything down to the way the keys feel on these things bring out something soulful in you.

  • How about through a Leslie or motion sound?

  • @Oneness100 I heard a Rhodes through a leslie one time and it was really nice. It sounds really good just on the Chorus setting (Im sure it sounds good on the vibrato setting too though). You would have to have a preamp pedal for the leslie though in order to run a Rhodes through it.

  • @coachcdobbs -Yes a Rhodes through a Leslie is great(the tubeleslie is best!)

However I,m very pleased with the Boss chorus and the small stone.

  • I love your tone! I have 2 Rhodes pianos and use a JC-120 (your JC-160 is the 4x10 correct?). I have used an MXR Phase 90 in the past, and now use both a Maxon Phasetone and a Stereo EHX Polyphase (depending on how Im feeling that day haha). IMO the original Small Stone is the chewiest, lushest sounding phaser for the Rhodes and I would love to get my hands on one! Very nice playing as well sir!

BTW - Is your Mark II a wooden key model or plastic key model? Just curious!

  • @coachcdobbs Thanks for your comment! Yes its the 4x10 JC, its heavy to lift but the sound is great. I like the Small Stone and think its perfect for the Rhodes. I also have a Boss CE-2(depending how I feel-haha). My Rhodes have the plastic keys and its good to play. What kind of Rhodes piano do you have?(mark 1 or 2?)

I dont know the maxon and the polyphase, but I use to have a MXR 90 in the past as well.

  • @fystasjoppheng I have a 1978 Mark 1 Stage 73, and a 1972 Mark 1a Stage 73. Love them both and they both sound very different from each other. I LOVE the Boss CE-2 for the Rhodes. I have one and it works really really well on some things. Great pedal and very underrated IMO. I consider myself fortunate to own these great instruments. Nothing comes close to the feel or the sound. (or carrying one around from gig to gig haha)

  • @coachcdobbs Whats your opinion about the wood keys vs the plastic?

  • @fystasjoppheng I dont have an educated opinion on plastic keys vs. wooden keys haha. I havent ever played one with plastic keys. I have played many Mark 1's with the wooden keys and the action/feel on those does vary a good bit IMO from year to year. Have you ever played one with the wooden keys? Im curious to know if there is really THAT big of a difference between the two...

  • @fystasjoppheng BTW you need to put that "Minute By Minute" intro back up!! In fact if you wanted to record the whole thing I dont think anyone would mind that either! Great song.

  • @coachcdobbs.Yes I can do a new upload on the minute intro-(I,m impressed you remember it!)

  • just amazing!

  • @djcrawleravp Thank you!

  • you got that Tee sound!

  • Sounds wonderful Kjell! A Rhodes has a sound like no other. Since they are in your neck of the woods. Please check out "State Cow" ----they are in Sweden and use the Rhodes exclusively to bring back the "West Coast " sound from California. Remember the name, "State cow"---for they're going straight to the top-once their CD comes out--trust me! Maybe you can give them a hand!!

  • Thanks!

Do you mean the production of the new Rhodes?

Perhaps you can send me a link to State Cow?

  • I like it certainly 5*****

Thank you for nice performance : )

    Gennnk

  • Thats a great compliment from a great musican!

I admire your talent of performing, international videos and your friendly personality.

    Kjell

  • Nydelig!

  • Takk skal du ha!

  • Very nice! Nothing like hearing a Rhodes with a phaser. And those chords are great.

I too have a Stage MK II 73 (from 1980 with wooden keys). Is this a plastic or wooden key model?

  • I,m glad you liked it!

My Rhodes is from 1982 so I guess its plastic key.

In the past, I had the Mark I from 1977 as well as a Mark I 88(I dont remember what yearsmodel)

I love all the Rhodes models!

  • thank you very much! im actually kind of digging the bite when you go hard on the rhodes mark2

i think i will go with the mark2 because a moog will follow on its top, just like yours. again man thanks a heap for your time. kind regards

  • You will buy the Voyager Moog?

A very good synthesizer-it will sit perfect on the top of Mark II.

I hope you will make a video and tell me about it.

  • the moog will have to wait :) but i will put some V-A synths on top of it meanwhile. And i will tell you about it. im probably gonna be really amazed with the mark2 :). cheers

  • wonderful, wonderful performance sir!

I have a question to you sir if you dont mind.

I am seriously thinking of getting a rhodes, and it would be my first one ever. If you know could you please give me little recommendation between the mark 1 or 2

thanks a heap in advance. stay safe and sound, best wishes.

  • Underbart!

Måste koppla rhodset genom smallstonen igen, tack för du påminde mig. :)

    /Le Singe Monotone

  • Takk!

Rhodes og smallstone er en heftig kombinasjon.

    Hvilken Rhodes har du?(Mark 1-2?)

  • mark I 88. Titta på mina vidos. :)

  • At last new videos from you! Great playing and great instruments. Thanks.

  • Thanks Wolfgang!

Yes, its been a while since my last videos, I will try to be a better videoproducer from now!

    Kjell

  • Oh yeah ! Long live the sound of Richard Tee !

  • Thanks for your comment! Do you know if Richard used the small stone phaser?

    (so it sounds like)

  • Yes he did. You can checkit on Youtube also by watching video number tX29t2i4D8I
