What many people do not know is that she was a very accomplished woman, and a trailblazer, in her own right. She worked on a bomber assembly line during WWII, and in a span of a decade, worked her way up from a clerk to the Vice President of Bank of Hawaii (she broke glass ceilings for women in her day). She was truly amazing.

Mrs Madelyn Dunham knew that her grandson was to become the US president. Which is why she went the day before we would all find out.

My sincerest condolences to Mr Obama's family. And to anyone that has lost a grandparent, on the eve of their brightest moment.
