Alot of you below act as though most Nazis saw themselves as murderers rather than innocents forced into the protection of their families by a few Arschlöchern. By the way, this song isn't the "Nazi party's book burning song". It's just an old German song.
@12Oc7ock This song has a lot of association with the Nazi part though. Main association for folks is from Indiana Jones, thus the title, as that is how people are searching for the song.
@PezunaProducciones Obviously if ur replying to my 3 week old comment, you dont want me to stfu, because if you did, u would completly disregard it and go on with your life.
This song always makes me so happy, just like the Germans who rose from the ashes, after their defeat in ww1. From starving to being a great empire, and back to starving, in such a short time span. Even hitler said that the most powerful thing on earth was German will-power. (I'm only part German, so don't call me a racist. My skin isn't even white, it's kinda tan/olive)
Listnen to the sweet sound of this song, then think of what it celebrates: Hitler's obsession with keeping people stupid. G'head, burn the books! The burning of books kept the German people ignorant. Once they read, they would have destroyed this evil empire.
The United States Of America is Far worse than the Nazi's. If they cut a business deal with them, the American's wouldn't have gone to war with them. And thats the only reason, why America entered into WW2.
@Randomthingz1 Try again. Nazis were not the ones who brought America into the war. Japan did by attacking Pearl Harbor and we had very little or no buisness dealings with them. Germany declared war on America based on the agreement of the Tripartite Pact. While it is true we had dealings with the Nazis, cutting a deal isn't going to prevent a war. Hitler had plans to deal with America when England and the Soviet Union were defeated.
The 3rd reich tainted a lot of Germany....not spared was this and other marching songs, as well as the Iron Cross. (The Iron Cross was first created by Friedrich Wilheim in I believe it was 1813)
Hitler put a swastika on the iron cross in 1939...thats like pissing on your national flag.
the Iron Cross design is still used as the symbol of the german army, but the "traditional" iron cross medal has been replaced by a similar medal designed around the iron cross. It's called the "honor cross" or something to that effect if I remember correctly.
I guess...if you believe in nazi ideologies then maybe you might like the idea of a swastika on a symbol of your national pride. I personally think its disgusting but thanks for sharing your opinion.
Dude your a dick. As if we arn't haunted enough by the Reich there are assholes like you runing around. I had many of family that lst their lives fighting for that reich. My grand father was SS and even he dosn't think that shit should have EVER happend!
@skytreker I think because part of this was used in the third Indiana Jones movie during the book burning ceremony, people assume it was composed by the Nazis. Some people think that the "Deutschland Uber Alles" song was about a desire to conquer the world (that line was actually an appeal for unity of German speakers)

The march was composed after the Battle of Königgrätz. That was 1866.

It's too bad that such a wonderful march came from such a terrible group as the Nazis were.
MarionRavenwood561 3 years ago
Actually the march dates back to the Battle of Königgrätz in 1866. In which the Kingdom of Prussia defeated the Austrian Empire.
This is a bit earlier than any Nazi movement in Germany. It sad that some people judge without knowing.
