As pristine and sublime as an early Spring morning....it cradles one with its tenderness and warmth. Mozart would very much favor Ms. Dessay for this delicate yet compelling aria...A demonstration of tonal excellence, timbre, and vocal clarity perfect for this piece.

Not my preferred version. Voice is not made for it; it is a bit like when she is singing Pamina: not enough legato, 'too pointed',..... So all in all: average at best
Yes, she has a very beautiful and controlled voice, extremely lovely..
I heard this aria one ago in France for the first time, sung by Sandrine Piau with the Freiburger Barock Orchester, sung very similar. I found to my regret only an older recording of Sandrine here [but it's the first time I'm here antway, so maybe I missed that one] which is very similar, and such joy to listen to..
When it was pplayed, I parked my car at the side of the road to listen with tears in my eyes
Danish Broadcast played this Aria grabbing my attention instantly. And yes the times I played it afterwards here on YouTube it drew a tear in my eye as well! Very mowing and beautifull piece of music.

@operalover9001 I do agree with you! She has the right and light timbre in the high notes and not the kind of power that Damrau has. I have a recordiing with Ruth Siezak wich is comparable with this (TMHO better). Look to other postings of md Siezak.

In fact Mozart stopped working on Zaide, a opera seria, so he could compose 'Die Entführung'. There are many similarities, for instance is a character called Osmin in both operas. :)

Wow, what a natural sounding voice. Definitely my new role model.

she is the perfect voice for this, Mozart in general and especially the Mozart concert arias.
I think the only rival she has is Lucia Popp.

Her high notes are so clear and bell-like and effortless. Her coloratura is so smooth and flowing. Beautiful!

This aria reminds me a lot of Die Entfuhrung aus dem Serial for some reason. I love mozart!
