Curiously, though, I notice he pronounces his c's as "ch" even though c's in Latin are hard. You don't speak Italian in the household, do you? In any case, as a Classics major, I think you got him started on a great language :)
@horologiumcrepitans thanks for the compliment. He likes listening and learning different languages. He likes Italian too. It's good that kids love to learn foreign languages including mine. They're always curious. Thanks again.
so now, I love theology, love my faith, and am open to the fact that God may be calling me. Today, so many parents do not care for taking the kids to Church or giving them a good foundation in the faith. But wow! You are teaching him LATIN :) May God Bless You and the boy.
Hi Philip, thanks for the kind comment and God Bless you! That must be such a wonderful feeling to acknowledge at such a young age that you might have a calling. You're so Blessed!
You are doing excellent job teaching him two excellent prayers in Latin. This is pretty cool, as I cant even get my 5 yr old cousin to even try to pray in english. Some priests do not even know the Pater Noster or Ave Maria, so I applaud you. I also like how the vid was posted on 7/7/07, when Pope Benedict issued Summorum Pontificum, freeing the Latin Mass. My mom and grandma started taking me to Church and teaching me prayers and lives of the saints, sacred scripture, etc continued
Thanks for the thoughtful comment & compliment. My son learned to pray (I think) before he could talk since he's been hearing me every day & night saying my prayers with him until one night I cut short the Lord's prayer because I dozed off & to my surprise he continued it for me. (& he was only about 16 months old, it was the same time that he was already reading word for word). Btw,I met Pope John Paul II when I was a teenager like you. His Holy presence was overwhelming I broke down & cried.
hey cute kid ^_~ My family is part italian and I only know like 5 words hehe. I also study Japanese because big fan of anime and manga (original not eng dub)... but yeah my nationality is English and part Italian ^-^ I learning to read Japanese text tho.. Italian text is so easy.
Heh, heh, well I don't want to overwhelm them. Plus, I have no knowledge of Chinese, and my only knowledge of Arabic, besides the orthography, comes through my knowledge of other Semetic languages.
If they know Hebrew, Greek, and Latin, it will open the door to other languages; Aramaic is spitting distance from Hebrew, and knowing Greek and Latin throughly makes reading other Indo-European languages much easier.
I hope my coming child (only 7 months to go) can pick up Latin like this. I plan on teaching the sacred languages of the Church (Lain, Hebrew, and Greek) to as many of my children as are willing to learn. I just hope I can keep them as enthusiastic as this brilliant child obviously is.

nice... he must be attending latin mass too coz his tone of the Pater Noster sound very similar to the one sung in the latin mass... Good child... God Bless...
This little guy can learn any languages he wants too. He can very well be multilingual and it would be much easier for him than for an adult. Further I have heard that kids who know more than one language that it helps them in school.
This is Wonderful! Hopefully the catholic clergy will be inspired and LEARN LATIN! Not only for their benefit, but for the world! The Traditional Latin Mass is the True Mass. May it be restored and Never again be allowed be evil doers to silence it. It is Impossible, because it is the Mass of the Saints and the desire of all Heaven! Deo Gratias! Bless this child and the parents.
WOW! This child is BRILLIANT! He could read and pronounce more and better than most people in Latin I and II. This child is amazing. He's going to have a phenomenal grasp and command over the english language. It will also be more easy for him to learn in the future. Mom, I recommend that you nourish this child's amazing blessing. May god bless you all.
Thank you for the comment. My little son reads english but somehow he learned to read Latin as well. (I think because he loves Pope John Paul II & Pope Benedict XVI ... he says they always sing prayer songs in Latin for Jesus and Mary...and my son just loves it).
As a Catholic music director who uses Latin as part of parish worship almost regularly, I have to say this kid is impressive. And if there's a parent teaching him, big time kudos! Keep up the great work!
Truly amazing. The kid has to be gifted.
