Even veterinarians blow dry birds. What is it with people.
There are hair dryers for pets that are a lot quieter and don't get too hot, for those of you who are concerned. I find that birds adjust to hair dryers far quicker than horses do. Go figure.
My cockatiel loves to be blow dried too. I always hold the cool air button down so it doesn't get too hot. I agree it is better to get them dry quick so they don't freeze their little butts off and catch a cold, and you don't have to worry about them hurting themselves by crashing when they try to take off soaking wet. My parents accidentally killed one of our birds when I was kid by Teflon poisoning, so I understand where people are coming from, but a blow drier isn't going to cause that.
I want to get an African Grey so bad and teach it to talk and do funny things. MJ is beautiful. How long do they live? I was told about 20 years or so.
you are all over acting to this video... the bird could just walk away if he wanted. i bet your part of the people who make a big deal out of obama killing a fly too.... don't listen to them this is far from what people should be complaining about.
This is true. I've known this for a long time (thanks to Bird Talk mag & parrot books), but I thank you for posting the info. I'm always conscious of how warm the dryer is getting (the air is just barely warm, but the dryer itself gets warmer) & will stop if it starts getting hot - even if he's not fully dry.
Does that blow dryer have the button that changes it to regular/cool air instead of heat? I'm assuming so because a bird would terribly over heat with a hot blow dryer. I never thought of blow drying our grey. lol
Note that the dryer is On LOW, and is not Touching, or really close, another thing is he might of gotten a bath so making him wet lol, he wont overheat because he comes from Hot weather, same thing as giving him a shower he aint going to drown :D

nobody would say anything if you were blowdrying a poodle. It looks like he loves it.

kristyu2bullet, you are one crazy, sad, lonely lady. Please leave this animal alone...

blowdryers, space heaters, and teflon coated products all contain chemicals that are toxic to birds when over heated.

Mine swallows hot air that comes out of a hair dryer, too. I wonder if that makes her whole body warm....

about the thing his doing, he is trying to reach the dryer. Our one does it to most things near his cage.
