Not bad for a stocky i spose, my 308 make`s 285rwhp revlimited to 5500rpm with a hydraulic cam and stock valves n springs, a solid lifter cam and oversize valve`s n spring`s are on the way,will let u know what it makes then.

175myles what are you on about. In almost 100% of cases, when talking stock vehicles, the kW engine output (crank) is equal to the rear wheel horse power. For example, a 260kW XR8 will produce about 260rwhp. A 307 VE will produce about 300+rwhp. For a Sv6 to produce 261rwhp, it would need to produce about that in kW at the crank, and we all know they don't. To make things simple and convert kW to hp mutiply by 1.3402. Or add a third of the kW rating to = hp. ie: 300kw = 400hp.

@keithjackson302, The VE SV6 creates 199kw at the flywheel, With a K&N racing filter it was making over 210kw at the flywheel, I Didn't read the book properly (As my parents used to own one).

@175myles im not sure if your just pulling everyones leg lol, when my R33 skyline was making a mere 240RWHP at the wheels it would pull away from any VE SV6, i think they have about 240HP at the fly, not the wheels.

in other words, dont buy an SV6 boys, no chance >: )

@0991ekul, But an SV6 weighs a lot more than a car designed for racing. Family car vs. Racing car =) Also The SV6 makes 199KW at the flywheel stock standard, with a new filter it produces over 210kw at the flywheel.

Inter919 tell me at what stage in history has a common as clubby (especially VX) been a good car. Sure they are a great baseline car, but in stock format they lack real grunt. The VE GTS with 317 and magnetic suspension is reasonable, and I have driven many of them stock and modded, but it hardly blew my mind.

I suppose Inter919 it comes down to standards and what you have been exposed to in life in order to draw comparisons - it's not your fault you have missed out, the time will come, maybe!
