reading the responses below i was born in 83 and was prob only in middle school but one of the songs that stuck by me through time and i love all musics thing now a days are getting pretty screwe up all i hear anymore is bit@#$, a@@, and hoes!!! music has gone to crap
I caught so much hell for liking this band in High School. I pretty much loved all the music of the 90's...Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, AliceinChains, DMB, and Hootie. I just like all kinds of music and people get so narrow minded regarding music. No one has the balls anymore when they are teens to like what they want, they get so caught up in what is "cool". I say...a band that sells 15 million albums like Cracked Rear View definitely did something right. One of the best live bands ever
song made me smile the whole time...very powerful song, not many people can write songs like this. very true time punishes us and alot is wasted....kinda like my time getting wasted hearing the music on the radio now days.
My one real wish.... to be born in like,..... 1979... be alive for the END of the 80's... get all that music but really live the 90's. I hate being a teenager stuck in a world full of kids my age that don't understand good music. I wanna be beside people my own age rocking to Hootie... I wanna go to Goo Goo Dolls concerts with kids who feel the same way about the band.... man what I'd give.

@rawritsclaudia - I was talking about folks in general, not @popcultrue in particular. Just overall tired of the hatin' and haters no matter what color they are.

Hey popculture - some of us white people could care less what color a singer is - we only care about good music - Darius is great no matter what color he is.
I'm tired of those white folks hatin' on someone just because they are black, and some black folk hatin' me just because I am white. It's ridiculous.
@Souper309d I feel like he didn't mean any negative connotation to that. Perhaps he's just reveling in the fact that he can look to to a black man in this genre because there aren't many. It's not "hatin'," more like a little pride? haha
O.o I don't think color has to do anything with talent, personality, soul, or the person.... But I admit, I had no clue the lead singer was a black man until I was about 17(23 now).. Surprising, but amazing because someone has this much talent, no matter what color he is... Perfection at it's best? =)
@Souper309d I agree 100% im from the hair band era but darius rucker is a awesome fucking singer no matter what color he is, i grew up in about a 95% black area but i like any good music and im white, hair bands rule!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The only color that prooves anything is red. the color of blood thats shed. All humans have it. Freaking time, never enough when you need it and too much when you don't. But like a clock i keep on ticking.
Estimated friend, if you want to listen again this song and an endless number of successes of the love I suggest you to visit Radio MUSICA PARA MIMOS - looks for his direction URL in Google ( search Musica para Mimos in Google)-. best romantic music of all the times in Internet, is great, is very good ...!!!
Darius Rucker is possibly the coolest, most down to earth celebrity you will ever meet. I see him at Chickfila all the time, and generally you can run into him anywhere in Charleston. He's usually hitting up the golf links, though. Great guy, nice to see somebody so cool represent Charleston.
1994 cracked rear view.....one of the greatest albums to ever hit the airwaves in the 90's...to me, and its just my opinion, the 80's was the greatest decade in music, lost hope in the 90's and the current music of today, is just plain garbage.....i listen to a morning radio show for the ride to work daily, once out of work its nothing but CD's, todays radio, music, Sucks
he is a great vocalist.........anyone who has ever tried to sing will tell you they think so. he is a lot like Gary Puckett from way back. No they aint Pavarotti but it is a beautiful thing all the same......
i'm from tn. my wife took me to charlestown in 1978,for the first time in my life at age 27,south carolina must be blessed by GOD,its best place on this planet for sure .hootie knows that i speak the truth,so great i go there every time i can manage to beg ,borrow or steal enough resources to just get there, close .nothin' else matters.
this band is shit....

IM TIRED OF EVERONE BEING OBSESSED WITH THE COLOR OF HIS SKIN!! WE ARE ALL EQUAL!! SO STOP ACTING LIKE IT MATTERS HOW YOU LOOK

In 5points Columbia SC, we have a street sign named after this band. I walk past it almost everyday to work.

Does their drummer not look at least a *little* like Wayne from Wayne's World?

Who the Hell is Wiz Khalifa??? Why is his crap even listed on a Hootie video??? Why is he named for a synonym of the word 'piss'???
Deke101 10 months ago 2
Why is it this video only has 470,266 views and Justin Bieber or however you spell his name has over 500 million?
