Nice car, this was definitely the era when GM and Detroit knew how to build great solid cars with work of art designs and lots of horsepower to go with it
Nice.. actually, this generation of Buicks was among some of the very BEST iron ever to come out of Detroit. They were wicked fast, despite being gigantic beasts - and I should know. I drove one! Pity they'll never make 'em like this again.
@ryantruckman no you dont no what a stupid fuck is. it isnt a person that tells you the truth about cars. a stupid fuck is someone like you calliing other people stupid fucks even though they dont no what it means themselves
Wow Nice ride! Never really took the time to look at any Buicks but wow ! Love it. Did you get custom paint? Whats Color code. Love to paint my 66 Galaxie that colour YUM!
Nice car you got there, I've always loved the late 1960s/early 1970s Buick Electra's, are the non vinyl tops of the Electra's rarer than the ones w/vinyl top?
My dad had a white one with a white vinyl top and big white-wall tires. As heavy as it was that car beat trans-ams and ss monte carlos in the late 80's. Hope you still have yours.
My first car was a 79' Buick Electra Limited...it was a dog, but it looked so good I didn't care....by then the engines were so detuned they barely moved under their own weight. My 92' Roadmaster was the best car I ever had....I don't have any GM's anymore (bad, I know, lol)
I know the late 70's cars were very slow even for a V8, but in 83-85 they were more tuned, and had more power, i have an 84 Electra, with a 407 olds and an 85 Lesabre with a 307 olds, and they are plenty powerful, i believe that they increased power in that time frame.
I had the 350 in it...4 barrel. It was so detuned by that time, it was when GM was trying to 'downsize' ....they were underpowered, only about 145 net hp. Either way, I still loved it, it was beautiful, wish I had my Buicks still.
Actually it had 155 net hp, that is very low for a 350 4 barrel motor, it's a shame they've had to detune the power of them cars from the mid 1970s onward.
yea i agree my 67 buick 300 makes at least 210 hp on regular and the torque is at a very low rpm. the pollution control currently just consists of a pcv valve xD
210hp was alot of power for its 300ci engine, I know the 455's made as much as 370hp on their 1970 Buick's and Pontic's, 375hp on their 1970 Oldsmobile's, 1970 is IMO the best year of the classic cars
I thought the downsized full size Buick's from 1977 to 1985 were really nice looking cars, still wish they can make cars like that again but with more power (250-300hp range)
@midnitesquirldog 401 is the old buick nailhead the used earlier than what we are talking about. The 400, 430, and 455 were all the same block, the BIG BLOCK, but had different bores. the 350 used a different, SMALLER BLOCK hence it is a SMALL BLOCK. stroke has absolutely nothing to do with if it's a big or small block.
@snowman4839 i know they just raised the deck for the big block 400 430 455 ... my buick 350 engine says 350- 401 stroke but its weird how the intake is huge like a big block people keep saying nice 455 but its a 350 ..i noticed out of oldsmobile pontiac cadillac chevy there 350's do not have the over sized intake like buick so it makes me wonder .

my very first car was one just like this only white....455, and would rip the tires off the wheels for 2 city blocks.

My favourite year for Buicks was always 1970. The LeSabre, the Electra 225 and the Wildcat are my favourites.
