What a strong and honorable man. The courage it must have taken to not only survive but thrive after such horrors at a young age. His parents would be quite proud of their son going on to defend and strengthen Israel in their memory. Let's never forget the victims that survived the Holocaust. How is it practical? The executioner wouldn't have to watch the person being killed and other people can take out the bodies and put them into gas chambers. No one will have an emotional reaction to it as shootings caused German soldiers to be emotionally numb. Some even killed themselves. Heinrich Himmler had dinner and played music while people were being brought into the gas chambers. He didn't see them being killed even though he knew that it was going on.

The US economy did improve from WWII, but also suffered as many items had to be rationed. Hence it was a mixed bag. the economy had been improving and for atleast 2 years. In terms of the myth, Sun Tzu in the "Art of War", pointed out how prolonged wars are terrible for the economy along with many other experts on military affairs. In fact the oil companies were lobbying AGAINST the war in Iraq. Tycoons like Ford were at the forefront of bringing an end to WWI. So yes, big business is often OPPOSED to wars. Some people do benefit, but most business, big and small, SUFFER from it. That's reality.
BTW, the Swiss companies(Switzerland not involved in WWII) made a lot of money from selling gas to the Nazis and Swiss banks confiscated Jewish-owned assets. So yes, some people do benefit from war; most people don't at all.
