@harshkamdar86 “Politicians need religion even more than a hermit in retreat. If a hermit acts out of bad motivation, he harms no one but himself. But if someone who can directly influence the whole of society acts with bad motivation, then a great number of people will be adversely affected.” - Dalai Lama
@timbxd unfortunately, his assertion rests upon the assumption that the only cause for "acts of good motivation" is religion. this is fundamentally flawed. rather, religion poisons everything :)
1) well what do you expect from the - "leader", i guess - of an organised religion? of course he's going to promote religion.
2) it also depends on your interpretation of the word religion. nowadays it's of course used to refer to organised religions, and its original meaning is somewhat lost. i think it's more to do with needing purpose and spiritual peace of mind to give the reason as to why one should act morally - something potentially more personal.
@ikissfutbol89 having said that, i did go through a period of lapsing into existential nihilism (which coincided with the time when I questioned whether we truly have free will, and everything seemed to lead me to the answer that we don't), yet still maintained a belief in morality if only based on subjective principles. in that case i was absent of religion by any definition, so i'd say you are correct.
@shakou1 i used the term "existential nihilism" to differ it from other forms of nihilism such as moral nihilism, which would've completely contradicted what i said. as for existentialism being the long way round to nihilism, well... it is one outcome - normally considered a negative one at that. because of that, yes, it would be a long way round, considering you can just stop trying to find purpose and give in to nihilism pretty quickly.
Presumably the tune title means being totally fucked at Glastonbury Festival. Know that feeling far to well. Best to head or the green fields when cranial armageddon happens.
I am hooked on BlumenKraft and Live in Gnomelandia. Is Ott trying to make me some kind of Electronica geek? I have seen him locally at Camp Bisco a couple of times, Hallucinogen in Dub as well. He's like a strong drug. I am hooked!

@rabbitspliff Can existential nihilism be real? isn't existentialism just the long way round to reach nihilism?
