  • This has got to be one of the more fun and amusing ceili dances out there :D

  • IS AWESOME!!! I LOVE IT GREAY GREAT GREAT

  • Is this Claddagh irish dancers

  • brialliant, a lovely lively ,dance a credit to them lets see more dancers take it up,,Such a shame the irish dance commission does not do enough to foster and promote Ceili Dancing like they are supposed to and ""What they were set up for so long ago,,,,Guess not enough "cash in it..? Why bother taking their exams"" through ""ceili"" SHAME ON THEM"" ANTON COYLE TRYING TO KEEP CEILI ALIVE IN LONDON@IRISH CENTRE CAMDEN TOWN ON SUNDAY NIGHTS,,OPEN TO ALL NATIONALS ,,SETDANCERS WELCOME,,

  • wow, love those girl's outfits! some of the best I've seen

  • garantee you they one

clagah (sorry i dont kno how to spell it) kinda kickes ass at celi but theve been doing celi since like forever

  • I really liked how sharp, and precise this was; however, I like it a lot better when it isn't as much....

    Does that make sense?

It's a céilidh dance, it doesn't HAVE to be perfect.

    But this was nice. :)

  • the dance is about dating:) and men getting jealous. when they all turn it signifies the girls flirting with the other men. the men are then supposed to move to the middle(which they didn't) and raise their fists or fight each other, and then march back to their ladies and clap(aka slap them in the face!) and the ladies are supposed to turn up their noses as though they don't care,

  • I learned this dance like 6-7 years ago we do it a little differnt.

  • This is such a fun ceili! Well done!

  • This 8 hand figure dance originated in Armagh. The 3 tunes are: 1) Haste to the Wedding (jig) 2) Leslie's Hornpipe and 3) The German Beau (reel). The reel is done at a slightly slower tempo than the jig and the hornpipe is at a slower tempo than the reel.

    My all time favorite!

  • Wow! This brings back memories. I always liked dancing this.

  • What are the meanings behind this dance?

  • none. its just a dance. irish fun

  • I know, but whats the story of all the movements? whats its heritage??

  • i dunno. there usually isnt all that much thought put into irish things, the closest plausible heritage is people got really drunk and needed to hold on to eachother for stability.

  • LOL! 1:37!! It looked like the haka!!!!!

  • i grew up dancing with the ann healy school of irish dance in san francisco....this makes me sooo happy!

  • where was this taken at??? i love the music and the whole way that they planned the dancing. i love the outfits they're soo cute and how cute that they were dancing with each other too. even when the girls were dancing together in the center it looked like they were childhood friends having pure fun. cool video

  • I kind of lol at how part of this dance is about husbands coming home to beat their wives...

(at my school we have them clap straight forward, not to the side)

  • wow.....this is the dance that everyone in my school screws up on everytime we do it lol......I just realized that we suck lol

  • i do the

EXACT SAME DANCE. AND THEY ARE NOT ON TIME TO THE MUSIC!!!!

  • THE MUSIC IS NOT SYNCED WITH THE VIDEO!

  • Hi Bartow26, great dance! can you tell the name of this music? thx.

  • Its called The Three Tunes, and i don't remember the individual songs, but you should be able to get a set of the ceili dance.

  • its a set dance, just not like one you would dance as a solo e.g the blackbird. Its just called the 3 tunes!

  • woa you guys were really awesome what level are you in im in prizewinner and when my group dances we do not look that awesome (ur class dress's are pretty too)

  • That was really good & energetic!!

  • beautilf girls its for the best that you are diiplined by over he knee cause you are so nice and lovely as usuasl

  • irish slury slury slury pump girls as beautiful a usuasal

  • Now, Now, Saoirse be nice.

  • The three tunes dance music from County Armagh, Ard Mhacha Abu.

  • yea. in some parts it is. cause im from County Armagh and i dont dance to tht

  • they are in time. its the video. when its uploaded.

  • aren't they a bit old to be doing three tunes? Here we only do it up to 13 years and under

  • Well here it is the only 8 hand boys do, we compete it in all of the age groups from under 8 to seniors.

  • THEY GO TO MY DANCE SCHOOL

  • I KNOW THESE PEOPLE

  • the video is out of sync, has nothing to do with their timing

  • its the video... there not out off time. wicked dancing

  • started off before the introduction had been completed by the looks of things. I used to love dancing the 3 tunes

  • no, the video is out of sync

  • there all out of time or is it just the video??

  • it's the video upload

  • That looks fun! YAY!!

  • i never thought it looked right with the older kids doing the patty cake stuff.

  • ive done this dance and it is sooooooo easy and fun i love it!!!!!!!!!!

  • It looks like Claddagh* from the dresses, but I'm not sure.

  • it is

  • what school is this?

  • great dancing!! my team 8 hand team came in first place in the 2007 championship!!!

  • Great dancing. I used to dance many moons ago. Our 8-hand won the Victorian Championships under 11 with this dance in 1980. So long ago, but have not forgotten the best feeling. Got to compete in the Australian Championships for the first time ever, with that win. Unfortunately couldn't repeat the win. Great to see simpler dresses. Too much bling these days. Boys not in kilts anymore. Can't blame 'em.

  • this is amazing. i did this same dance when i was younger. i loved it.

  • whats the name of this tune?

  • nice, must have taken days and days of practice!

It's not three tunes, since they play Haste to the Wedding at 1 and 3, but I don't know the tune in the middle.

  • i do the same dance to this i really want to move to ireland

  • do you have to be irish to join a prestigious dance group? i want to irish dance.......

  • no you don't...my friend is a irish dancer. she isn't irish x

  • audio on this is out but a good dAnce

  • I agree about the audio and video! Really good job, but it makes it look as though you are out of time.

  • y are u ashamed!!???this dance is telling a stroy of the men fighting over the women thats wat the story of the dance is about....more or less aneyway!!

i danced this in a comp and we gt 2 the leinster final with it!!

  • just watched it again. brilliant! great memories from when i danced. i'm looking into the healy school (again) where i danced as a young lassie...i want to dance again.

  • i am irish and i am glad its in america, sweden, ausralia and in england where i live. It so good its keeping the culture alive!!

  • this is really good. its ashame that the audio and video arent in time.

  • why not hip-hop or r'n'b?

  • because it's called IRISH DANCE.

  • i competed this dance!!!

  • oh God now i am very ashamed...it was a jig. ugh too many things goin' at one time

    slan

  • Haha, don't feel bad! It's an 8hand ceili. The first dance is a light jig, the second is a hornpipe played in reel time, and the third is a reel.

  • is this a 4-hand reel? wow...sorry it's been a few (like 20 yrs) but i was a good dancer. i danced with the healy school in san francisco. my favorite dance was the slip jig...

thank you for posting....i'm new to "youtube" and i love it

    slan go feoil

  • so0o outta time!

  • Im starting to think that _CAMAHOLIC.NET_ place is a virus... -.- AND irish dancing is not flipping legs, seriously we put alot of hard work into it, I'd like to see people try it with out having cramps in their legs and be good at it the first time they try it. -.-

  • beautiful...

  • music isnt in time with the video.

  • Good dancing!

  • great precision. I enjoyed this very much

  • 3 tunes is my favorite dance...it's so much fun...i wish it was the whole dance though

  • Perfect technique, and the only reason why the timing is off because the of the quality of the video (picture not keeping up with music). Nothing but perfection of course in team figures is expected from the school in the video.

  • I wouldnt call this perfection, but they are brilliant dancers

  • I love this dance

  • lol this is so gay and very funny!

  • Excuse me? 'so gay and very funny'?! these fine dancers worked their asses off and you go and make fun of their hard work? you know what? your pretty 'gay'

  • lol look at them jigging about, its soooo funny.

  • How is that funny? They did a great job! Maybe your just not familiar with Irish Dance. It takes hard work and lots of time to get it good. But then again, you probably wouldnt know about the hard work, would you?

  • i'm Irish so i'm very familiar with Irish dancing.

  • So just because your irish that gives you a right to pick on childrens hard work?! Your very arrogent...

  • so flipping your legs about is hard work. yeee haaaaa, ya can't beat a good jig. quality stuff!!!!

  • We dont 'flip our legs about' And yes, dancing and especially competing is hard work. You are right though, it is quality stuff.

  • god ur a jerk. we do not flip our legs about, it is hard work and quality stuff. i would like to c u try u arrogant ass hole.

  • You know, if you're Irish, I find it amazing that you're making fun of something that is so apart of your culture. If I were Irish, I'd be proud that people around the world like something so much that came from my own country.

  • awesome! it almost reminds me of the sweets of may. i love that dance........

  • the timing is a bit out but apart 4rm dat itz fab

  • Now THIS is fabulous!,Theyre disciplined and talented dancers.

  • oh and the name of the third tune. Thanx.

  • Here are the names of the '3 tunes': The traditionally used pieces are Haste to the Wedding (JIG), Leslie's Hornpipe, and The German Beau (REEL).

  • Great stuff. I know the first tune is called 'Haste to the wedding' I know the second tune but forget the name of it. Could you please tell me the name of the tune, that is if you know the name of it? Anyone?

  • I love how they actually have boys for the men's parts. It's so rare that we actually do...

  • The Claddagh school always has awesome figures. :)

  • ur outta time wit the music

  • Roisin1212 - when uploading videos on youtube the audio and video go out of sync.

I'm 100% positive they were not out of time at the feis. :)

  • ok sorry, theres another one (dunno if its the same people) but its in time so ill asume it them aswell

  • what is this dance called ?

    amazing dancing !

  • This dance is a 'Mixed Ceili 8 Hand' meaning both girls and boys participating in a book dance. A book dance is a standard or set choreographed dance which has prescribed moves and patterns to music. This particular dance is called 'The 3 Tunes' and is danced in competition from the local level all the way up to the 'Worlds' level. The annual 'Irish Dancing World Championships' are held during Easter week generally in Ireland.
