    And used either terran or zerg :)

  • I had such fun making dark archons then MCing all their archons. Then using their archons to MC their big units.

  • @TableTennis1231 they gave Protoss ability to insta warp as much units as you want in every place on the map, so warp prisms + pylons + arbiters (or another unit with recall) would be kinda too much. I agree that mothership is used mostly in fun games, but it's usable.

    I don't like the reduced number of casters in the game though :(

  • Is a pity that they are not in SC2, probably they were thrown bicose corruptors, which in my opinion is pure nonsense zergs can control the enemy units with wery long dick, its so stupid.. What wos so vrong with mind control, comon corruption hitting enemy with some long shit its so fu... STUPID!!!

    What dark templars have forgotten that when they merge they make Dark Archon?????

    SC2 has too many elements of Warcraft, in warcraft undead can control enemy units with spel. 2 + 2= zerg

  • @vragoslav They split abilities of Dark archon that's why. They gave zerg fungal which includes stopping units in their tracks (maelstrom). and gave feedback to High Templars. Then they gave mind control to the zerg because they thought mind control for Protoss would be overpowered. Hey its just like they did with the arbiter, they gave it to the terrans (raven) and changed abilities. then gave Protoss the most shitty ass unit in the game. Mothership.

  • @TableTennis1231 I entirely agree with written, geaving the zergs mind control is totaly illogical.. Its seams now the zergs are advanced species not the protos. Abaut shitty ass Mothership its in mid game like usles bicos by then evribodey hawe anti invisible units so Cloaking Field usles, Vortex yes you can remuve most of the enemies from the field for some time but when they are back you are dead, Mass Recall can be useful if you hawe units to recal after bilding Mothership

  • @vragoslav I think that they should put in Leagacy of the Void, is give Twilight Archons stasis and abilities because they are the light side or energies of the Khala. And for Dark Archons, feedback, maelstrom and mind control (Dark Side). Blizzard should research more on Starcraft and the different races, hell maybe they should show the gigantic war the two psionic sides had (High Templars and Dark Templars). Blizzard does not know its game anymore, it makes me sad.

  • @pablomon3 Well Regular Archons as of StarCraft I are made of Templars that are linked with the Khala making them into giant balls of psychonic energy. Dark Archons are made from Dark Templars who aren't linked to the khala, and instead of using psychic powers they channel dark void energies and thus because of their use of void energy they become DARK archons.

  • @pablomon3 Oh....fuck....well the HP and Shields are the same, they got godly shields but they can be one shotted. It just that Dark Archon has no basic attack, Archon has a regular godly one. Dark Archon use three abilities. Mind Control (Mind Controls enemies hence the name), Maelstrom (I forgot what this is, but it freeze a unit), Feedback (Deals damage to target by the amount of energy he has)

  • @BaxterXenon Hp/ Shields aren't the same but they are very similar. DA has 200 hp and 25 hp archon has 350 shield and 10 hp And i think both their armors are 1 at the beginning.

  • @pablomon3 Dark archons are spell casters. Regular archons are meant to tank and deal with swarms.

  • @pablomon3 Although my reply is rather late, I'm going to give it anyway. In addition to the Mind Control, the Dark Archons have ability to cast Maelstorm, which immobilizes all biological units in target area - also the friendly biological units. Their third ability is Feedback, which drains the energy from enemy unit, for example Terran Ghost, Protoss High Templar, Zerg Queen, and then inflicts the same amount of damage to the unit. Simply put, Unit with 60 energy + Feedback = 60 pts damage.

  • @superarbol I'm not really sure if they should be coming back with their OLD abilities...maybe, just maybe, they will be coming back in Legacy of The Void (with some new crazy stuff).

  • Two things:

    The recordings should have been made at a higher sample rate (I am aware that back then sound only came at 16 bits). I always thought that the Dark Archon said "Das arcanas!" (thoughts in chaos).

    Second, this unit literally is the strongest normal unit (non hero) in the game. Why? Because once you mind control an SCV or Drone, you have access to the entire build line of your opponents.

    Hint: zealots + medics > more zealots. ;)

  • Mind control, my favourite ability of the Dark Archons! I use cheats a lot, so I can control almost everyone in the enemy group, lol.

  • I think it's because DA's are empty (void) that's why they must consume (Must feed... ) or be consumed by the darkness ( Must consume... Or oblivion will take us...)

  • miss these guys, i took control of a mothership and two carriers with infestors in sc2 yesterday, his remaining four carriers had to then destroy the mothership because it cloacked my infestors and my hydras cleaned everything up...infestors rock

  • @TomValedro I disagree. Those Archons are Protoss people merged. They feel pain, they feel joy, they feel sorrow, they just do it in unison. Their thoughts and emotions are shared. Yes, they literally burn with energy, but that doesn't make them any less Protoss than they already are.

  • @kaino1990 Becoming an archon - no matter - dark or normal, means death to identity of both templar. They merge and loose themselves to the powerfull psionic energy locked in protoss brains. Also - Archons dissipate over time. they die after short time. This is not shown in game.

    all this lore is found in Dark templar saga. If i was wrong somewhere feel free to correct me :)

  • @used2venom It's nice to see someone else has read the saga, as well. :) Yes, I agree to the dissipation, but I'd like to add that perhaps there's even more to the painful existence of being a dark templar.

    (Not going to explain the nerve-cord thing, I'm sure you're familiar with the individuality and reluctance to Khala?) As they merge, they go through what resembles very much like Khala link, but only between two Protoss. That is unnatural to most Dark Templar, I imagine, and very unpleasant.

  • @kaino1990 This is just me taking a stab at the lore part of it but the protoss darktemplar or not are still most comfortable with the Khala, because in the lore the khalinian protoss see darktemplar as emotionless because the pscionic cords is how the transfer emotion, the darktemplar can never truley feel love or happiness with each other and the farthest point from that is being completly emersied in darkness like a dark archon

    In the game that's not possible - and from reading the story and details around the Archons I don't think that's possible even in the fiction of it.

    However - a Dark Templar and High Templar can fuse into a ("regular") Archon in StarCraft 2.

    Yeah, Two Dark Templars meld into a Dark Archon.

    Two High Templars meld into a Archon.

    One of each also melds into an Archon. Initially intended to be a "Twilight Archon" during the development of StarCraft 2 but was scrapped in favor of a regular archon as nothing else is made manifest in the novels through the years either.

    Well - the Twilight Archon was completely lame as it was really a regular Archon but it had clumsy feet and legs. Which felt like one of those wood-chopping goblin machines from Warcraft 3 but with a fog-machine installed in it.

    Myself I doubt it'll be anything they'll introduce in the game ever since it was just crap, like the Infested Protoss, which simply is crap design combined with being impossible in the game universe. But... you never know :(

    Not in Wings of Liberty atleast. Instead two Dark Templars (or one High and one Dark) meld into a "regular" Archon.

    There's still a chance for more multiplayer units by the upcoming two campaign-heavy expansions.

    Doubt it was ever too powerful - just lacked purpose in the current state of the game looking at how the Zerg's Infestor now got a differenciated version of the Mind Control.

    A Dark Archon would also loose all its shield when taking an enemy unit over - leaving it with 10 HP alone in the original game until shields recharged again.

    Well infestor MC makes more sense than the dark archon, first and most important of them all, you cant take controll over a enemy worker, and get double population.

    + the feedback dark archons had in SC1 is now in the hands of the high templars

  • @Startrance666 you can make a nexus with 1 infestor mind control vs a probe and u can use multiple infestors to gang bang an scv and make a command center slowly

  • I love how you can feel the depth of the units by their voices. I hope there's a voice mod in SC2 that allows units to have some SC1 voices

  • @Oneiroi729 There is a custom map made by someone that has both SC1 and SC2 units. He actually put some of the old voices with the units. The map is called SC1+SC2 total conversion.

  • @Oneiroi729 There are a couple of custom maps where people have been putting in SC1 voices, not sure how they do it but it is possible. Would love to have some old voices as well :D
