I think that with how devastating this year has been to a lot of people with the earthquake and tsunami as well as the nuclear stuff going on in Japan. It is nice for people to get together to raise awareness and have a hopeful moment. Those moments are rare.

The thing is that the electricity we use are already converted from other energy sources like wind, water or burning oil. There is always a powersupply at the plants so that we dont use all the energy they have. It's not like you hit the lights and then the factory works harder to make energy. BUT however if we all used less energy then the powerplants wouldnt need to convert so much energy and therefore the powerplants wouldnt pollute our planet as much.
@n0hhh Nuclear powerplants are very ecological and their waste does not pollute our planet (as long as we take care of it properly of course). However, a lot of energy isn't as ecological and we would really just lose energy if we shut down all powerplants. Plus, even if we shut down other "polluting" energy sources, we would still need energy and would have to make up for that by producing more energy later on, so nothing would be accomplished. I could write more but im out of space.

The thing is that the electricity we use are already converted from other energy sources like wind, water or burning oil. There is always a powersupply at the plants so that we dont use all the energy they have. It's not like you hit the lights and then the factory works harder to make energy. BUT however if we all used less energy then the powerplants wouldnt need to convert so much energy and therefore the powerplants wouldnt pollute our planet as much.

@n0hhh Nuclear powerplants are very ecological and their waste does not pollute our planet (as long as we take care of it properly of course). However, a lot of energy isn't as ecological and we would really just lose energy if we shut down all powerplants. Plus, even if we shut down other "polluting" energy sources, we would still need energy and would have to make up for that by producing more energy later on, so nothing would be accomplished. I could write more but im out of space.

Earth hour is bullshit. Here of my 2 reasons.
1) Environmentalists are full of shit. They do NOT care saving the planet. Environmentalists want a cleaner and more comfortable place for themselves, so they ask everyone else to suspend their habits.
2) The participants of earth hour are full of shit. They turn of their lights for an hour, or plant a tree, but still drive SUVs.
