What you said is simply not true. People who are interested in music know all these composers. Perhaps Horowitz or Mussorgsky are less popular. In America we DO have many famous composers, just not that many from the period of 18th or 19th century because the country itself was born in 1777 or so. 20th century gave the world great composers of music such as Phillip Glass, John Adams, Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong, Coltrane. Also the composers you mentioned were Russian, not USSRs
